Terry Lee Dumler, 71, of Forsyth MT passed away early Sunday morning, December 21, 2014 at the Miles City VA Center. He lost his yearlong battle with cancer.
Terry was born August 19, 1943 in Billings, MT to Helen and Rhine Dumler. He was the oldest of three siblings, including his two sisters, Debbie and Lisa Gaye. Terry loved sports, playing baseball and football in his youth. He attended the University of Oklahoma prior to his enlistment in the Marines in April of 1966. He continued his military service seeing two tours in Vietnam, after which time he was honorably discharged. While in the military he met his first wife, Mako, and had his first child, a son, Lee Dumler. Upon his return to civilian life Terry moved through many passions, in his younger days he participated in a number of rodeos as a bronc rider, winning a small collection of awards and honors. It was during these cowboy years he met his second wife, Emily. As he got a bit older he settled down and moved into running his own small farm and working as a ranch hand, always keeping the horses he loved so much close at hand. Terry and Emily had a wonderful daughter, Bobbie Jo, in February of 1994.
Terry is survived by his son, Lee Dumler of Cambodia; his daughter, Bobbie Jo Dumler of Miles City, MT; his sister, Debbie Dumler of Gresham OR; his nephew, Lee Warwick of Albany, OR; his niece, Lisa Warwick of Gresham OR and two great nephews, Gage and Logan.
Terry is preceded in death by his first wife, Mako Dumler; his second wife, Emily Dumler; his parents, Rhine and Helen Dumler and his youngest sister, Lisa Gaye Dumler.
His funeral service will be held at the Veterans Chapel in Miles City, MT at 12:30 p.m. December 29, 2014. Burial will follow at the Eastern Montana Veterans Cemetery in Miles City, MT. There will be a memorial service held in June of 2015 as well. In lieu of flowers please consider making a donation to the American Cancer society or a local charity of your choice.
