Jerry James DeCock
With heavy hearts we say goodbye to our beloved Jim DeCock who departed this world on April 3, 2024 at the age of 78. Jim passed away at Rosebud Health Care Center Hospital in Forsyth, MT with family and friends visiting and bringing him comfort.
Jim was born on January 20, 1946, along with his twin brother Bob DeCock. Jim was born to Oscar and Margaret (Pearson) DeCock and was the youngest of their 5 children. Jim was raised in Hysham, MT on the family farm & ranch. He attended Hysham Public School, then attended Montana State University in Bozeman, until returning with his brother Bob to work on the family ranch.
On November 27, 1993 Jim was united in marriage to Richelle (Barnes) DeCock in Hysham, MT. Their union brought together 5 children Kyle DeCock, Dani (DeCock) Jung, Stacie Barnes, Amber (Barnes) Icopini, and Eva Barnes. Jim and Richelle also raised their granddaughter, Larisah Moreland. Jim loved raising his kids, giving life lessons, showing them how to work hard, and sharing stories of the past.
Jim served on numerous boards including Mid-Yellowstone Electric and REA. He served on the REA for 47 years and was passionate about doing what he thought was best for the community. He traveled near and far and enjoyed the opportunity to meet with people and discuss issues.
Jim loved his animals and recently enjoyed the company of his mule and halfling teams while riding in his wagon. These brought such joy to Jim and Richelle in his final years.
Surviving Jim is his wife of 30 years, Richelle; son Kyle (Cami) DeCock; daughters Dani (Ethan) Jung; Stacie Barnes (Matt Negethon), Amber (Dale) Icopini, Eva Barnes and Larisah Moreland. I got a kick out of Jim and Bob. I used to work at the restaurant when I was in high school. I would see the top of Jim and Bob’s head while they were walking by the window and knew they were coming in for their daily strawberry shake.
Both of them were good folks.
