Ted was born in Miles City, Montana on January 13, 1920, the son of Theodore B. and Josephine (Pierce) Matzen. He grew up and attended schools in Miles City and worked for the CCC. He then entered into the services, serving in the United States Army from 1942 - 1944. Following his honorable discharge, he returned to Miles City. In 1955, Ted married Mary Wiechard and to this union, four children were born. Ted worked for Tomalino´s Radio and T.V. until the mid 1970´s when he opened his own business called Ted´s TV Service, retiring in 1982.
Ted loved to walk the Yellowstone River, hunting agates and fishing and meeting with his group of friends for morning coffee. He was an avid reader and enjoyed collecting books, especially those related to his beloved Miles City. Ted was hard working and a problem solver; he built the family home and was always busy taking care of what needed to be done. Ted was a kind man who will always be remembered for his kind works and easy going personality.
Ted is survived by two sons: Ted (Irene) Matzen of Billings, MT and Bill (Jackie) Matzen of Miles City, MT; two daughters: Connie (Thomas) McDonald of Billings, MT and Lora Matzen of Florence, AZ; five grandchildren and four great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by 2 brothers and three sisters.

Condolences to the Matzen family from the McDowell family. My father, Don, cherished his memories of the times he and Ted had as kids…and they continued to be friends until my father passed.

So sad to hear of your loss of your father.
I can remember he used to come to my home and fix my tv and have never found anyone since that did that good work. He was such a nice man. You are all in our prayers.

Ted sat at the dining room table where my mom sits. When I sit with Mom, I’ve enjoyed visiting with Ted. He was so sweet, quite a tease, and loved music. My condolences to the family.
