In Memory Of

Thomas A. Swackhammer

Visitation: Wednesday, August 27, 2003 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. in the chapel of Stevenson Wilson Funeral Home in Gillette

Funeral Services: Thursday, August 28, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. at the Four Square Church in Newcastle, WY

Thomas Allen Swackhammer, age 44, of Newcastle, Wyoming passed away on Sunday, August 24, 2003 as a result of work related injuries.

Thomas was born in Fort Collins, Colorado on June 28, 1959 the son of David and Willa Jo (Anderson) Swackhammer. He attended schools in Fort Collins where he graduated from high school in 1978. Following graduation, Tom enlisted in the Army where he studied mechanical training, an interest and skill his father instilled in him. He served from 1978 to 1981, working on tanks. Tom married Julie Polley on November 6, 1982 in Fort Collins, Colorado. He then reenlisted, serving from 1986 to 1991 where he served as a supply sergeant during Desert Storm. Tom wanted his wife to be able to see the world by traveling and he wanted her to see Germany, where he served two tours. Following his discharge from the Army, Tom moved back to Colorado where he made his home in Sterling for 5 years. In August of 2000, Tom moved his family to Newcastle, Wyoming after visiting friends and fell in love with the community. Tom enjoyed bowling, camping, fishing, and hunting. He also enjoyed softball and loved to watch the Denver Broncos play football and he also liked to tinker on cars.

Tom is survived by his wife Julie Swackhammer of Newcastle, WY; three daughters: Kristine Swackhammer of Newcastle, WY; Jennifer Swackhammer of Alexander, ND; and Kellie Swackhammer of Newcastle, WY; a son, David Swackhammer of Newcastle, WY; his brothers and sisters: Karla Bencomo, Pam Shipply, Donald Swackhammer, Lisa Hernandez all of Fort Collins, CO; Susan Swackhammer of Miliken, CO; his mother-in-law Joan Pedroncelli and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Ann Renee Swackhammer, and a granddaughter, Jasmine Unterseher.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 27, 2003 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. in the chapel of Stevenson Wilson Funeral Home in Gillette, Wyoming. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 28, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. at the Four Square Church in Newcastle, Wyoming. Condolences may be sent to the family by visitingwww.stevensonandsons.com. Should friends desire, a memorial in Toms name to benefit his children has been established as Swackhammer Family Trust, First State Bank of Newcastle, 24 N. Summer Ave., Newcastle, WY 82701.

    My old army buddy Sgt Tom Swackhammer Garry Owen my old friend. One of the best mechanics and soldier I have ever known.
