On the afternoon of September 12, 2017, Tom passed away at St Vincent’s Hospital in Billings, MT. His passing was due to multiple health issues over a short period of time.
Thomas Davis was born in England, Arkansas on September 6, 1932. He was the 4th child of Della and Henry Davis.
Tom was born into a family of 11 children, 8 brothers and 3 sisters. The family went through many hard times. He had to work at an early age to help support the family. Upon reaching 18, he was drafted into the Army. While in the Army, he served in Germany and talked about those experiences many times thereafter.
Upon leaving the Army, he went to work in Merced, CA on a farm, where his love of tractors began. Soon after, he was encouraged to move to Southern California and go into construction, by his older brother Rommie. He joined the Laborer’s Union and worked as a laborer for 14 years before switching to the Operating Engineers. He operated several different types of heavy equipment, adding to that love of tractors. Later, he joined his older brother, HD, in repairing rock plants. While repairing a rock plant, he was injured and had to retire. Tom then decided that it was time to move to Miles City, Montana where he had purchased 80 acres of land. So about 1976, he moved to Miles City and has resided there for the past 40 years.
Tom was preceded in death: by his brothers: HD, Rommie, Henry, John, Larry, and sisters; Connie and Barbara.
Thomas is survived by: Priscilla, his wife of 58 years; his sons, Hershal and Dale; his brothers and sister, Charles, Curtis and Charity. Tom also has 5 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Funeral Service will be held on Monday, September 18, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. with visitation starting at 9:00 a.m. at Stevenson and Sons Funeral Home in Miles City.
