Tillie Christine Kuehn Youngquist, age 97, of Terry passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 8, 2012 at the Prairie Community MAF in Terry with her family by her side after a long period of illness.
Tillie was born in Buelah, North Dakota on October 1, 1914, the daughter of George and Christina (Wolhgemuth) Morast. At a young age, her family moved to Olanda, Montana north of Terry and homesteaded in the area. She was married to Sam Kuehn in Marsh, Montana on June 4, 1933. They lived on Bad Route north of Terry and there they farmed, ranched and they were blessed with four children. On July 24, 1980, she married Roy Youngquist.
Tillie was a devoted homemaker who’s joys were gardening, canning, quilt making, needle work and crocheting. She was gifted in music, playing her harmonica and yodeling. Tillie was a hard working person as well as an outstanding cook and always had room for one more at the table. She took great pride in making German dishes and super dill pickles. These talents she passed on to her daughters and daughters-in-law. Yes, she made the best darn headcheese ever. She and Roy won several awards for the best decorated yard at Christmas time in Terry. She enjoyed traveling, collecting petrified rocks, and going to sports activities. Tootsie was her companion in her later life and in the nursing home. Her family was a very important part in her life. She will always be remembered for her loving caring ways. We love you Mom and Grandma. You will be missed.
Tillie is survived by her children: Ina (Chuck) Hughes of Anchorage, AK; Sharon (Monty) Smith of Miles City, MT; and Don (Vera) Kuehn of Terry, MT; fifteen grandchildren: Greg (Kim Latrielle) Kuehn, Tim (Tracy) Kuehn, Stacy Northup, Roger McCaffree, Lance Hughes, Wade (Lisa) Hughes, Renee Hughes, Krystal (Mike) McGinnis, Wayne Bennett, Amy (Richard) Talbot, Lorna (Mike) Hall, Judd Smith, Trisha (Reece) Kalfell, Tawnya (Denim) Yarger and Teneil (Steve) Phipps; twenty nine great grandchildren and six great great grandchildren. I am sorry to learn of your family sorrow. The death of a loved one is painful. If I may, I’d like to share scripture found in your Bible that may comfort you in some way.
Please take a moment to read Ec. 7:1..A name is better than good oil, and the day of death than the day of one’s being born.
1 Cor 15:42..So also is the resurrection of the dead.
Ps. 37:29..The righteous themselves will possess the earth, and upon it they will reside forever upon it.
Also take a moment to read Isa. 45:18.
