In Memory Of

Tim Wildman, age 66, of Bridger formerly of Forsyth.

July 14, 1955 – May 6, 2022

Tim Harley Wildman

On Friday, May 6, 2022, Tim passed away peacefully with loved ones by his side at Riverstone Health Hospice Home in Billings, MT. Tim was 66 years old.

Tim was born in Miles City, MT on July 14, 1955. He was the third child of Harley Wildman and Evelyn Myran. In 1959, Evelyn married Mencel Carey of Kinsey, MT and they moved the family to the Kinsey farm. Tim was blessed to grow up in the country with his aunts, uncles, and cousins. Mechanically inclined and curious by nature, he spent many of his early days taking apart and reassembling anything he could get his hands on. Tim loved the country, it’s freedom and solitude, and the wide-open spaces where he rode his favorite horse Chico.

In 1969, the family moved to Miles City. There, Tim attended high school and worked at the A&W and MAC’s Frontierland. He started working at UPS in 1978 and retired in 2010, after 32 years of service to the communities of Forsyth, Miles City, Colstrip, and Terry. These communities loved “The Wildman.” Tim was loud and funny and had a remarkable ability to connect with people. His energy, boisterous laugh, and willingness to go above-and-beyond for anyone made him a local celebrity.

Tim was married to Peggy Jo Callaghan from 1980 to 1983 and from that marriage came Travis and Tiffany. Later, on February 12, 1988, in Forsyth, MT, he married the love of his life Cynthia (Faist) Wildman. Tim and Cyn joined the families at Pine Hills Estates outside of Miles City. Tim loved it there, the pine trees, the quiet, and the big blue skies. Tim loved spending time with his kids, Travis, Tiff, Kit, and Cara. A short trip to the gas station or a visit to the Dairy Queen drive-in for a blizzard would have them all piled in the truck for an afternoon adventure. Tim always found time to ride motorcycles, hide easter eggs, practice at the shooting range, fly kites, and pull the kids around on an old car hood in the snow. He especially enjoyed taking his kids hunting. It was easy to tell when he got one because the entire county could hear the echoes of him gagging as he attempted to dress the deer.

In 1992 Tim and Cyn moved the family to Forsyth, MT. Tim was a hard worker and never backed down from a challenge. He worked long days at UPS and then would work more hours in the evening at the family grocery store. Tim instilled in his kids that taking risks is always worth it and even when things don’t go your way there are lessons to be learned. He would say, “You finish what you start” and those words imparted a strong work ethic and perseverance during tough times. Tim was generous and made many donations over the years to organizations that served the community. He also passed out cheeseburgers to the occasional hitchhiker on his delivery route.
Tim was a teacher. It was important to him that his kids knew how to take care of stuff, especially their cars. He spent countless hours working with Travis on his Malibu. When Tiff got her first car and the engine blew up, Tim found a new one and spent nights and weekends helping her rebuild the car. He was a wheeler-and-dealer. Tim could find anything—a part, a tool, even a tractor—whatever was needed for the job. It wasn’t unusual for him to show-up in the evening driving an old car that he bought from some guy for $100 and some firewood.

During retirement, Tim enjoyed the simpleness of watching a great movie, laughing with Cyn, and playing with his dogs.
Tim was preceded in death by his father Harley Wildman and stepfather Mencel Carey, along with his brother Randy Wildman, sister-in-law Leslie Wildman, brother-in-law Bubba Smith, and first wife Peggy Jo Callaghan. He is survived by his loving wife Cynthia Wildman, son Travis Wildman, daughter Tiffany Wildman, daughter Cara (Chalberg) Cook (Nate), and son Christopher “Kit” Chalberg (Amberly). He is also survived by five grandchildren Kaitlyn Wildman, Keagen Wildman, Anderson Cook, Iris Cook, and Lillee Wildman, his beloved dogs, Hans and Koby, as well as his mother Evelyn Carey, brothers Clint Wildman and Dallas Wildman (Linda), sisters Cindy Smith, Stena Bushnell (Jim), Mencella Carlson (Kelly), Becky Murnion (Dixon), Carol Finneman (Terry) and Rosie Moats (Dick) and his aunts, an uncle and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He will be deeply missed.

The celebration of life is scheduled for June 25 at 2pm at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Forsyth, MT. In lieu of flowers, donations to Saint Jude’s Children’s Hospital are encouraged.

Tim was the best. When he blasted into the N.A.P.A. store you always knew the world was alive and well. When you guys moved it was like someone turned off the lights in town. He was missed then and all of us who knew him will grieve with you.

  10. Carolyn E Hays says

    May 12, 2022 at 10:26 am

My deepest sympathies. I adored Tim. He was so friendly and truly cared about people. He made it his mission to know everyone he met from kids names, where you worked and when you would be home or at work. He delivered many packages to me at the Blue Spruce when I worked there instead of coming out on Slaughter House to deliver to me. Knew my kid’s names, always asked about them, knew my husband-he was just Tim! The world has lost a special person. May God speed your healing and help you keep your memories bright. 37. Curtis W Myran says

    June 24, 2022 at 11:47 am

Sometimes the smallest of things get forgotten over time. Not so for Timmy and I. Like “Timmy Man” and “Curtie Boy” and I was older but not bigger. He was so much fun! He was like my little big brother. He was my hunting partner here at Haughan’s, at Knolton, and at The Leanin Tree and Checkerboard. We were always honest with each other, even when I was right. Kidding aside, He was one of my best friends. I loved that man and it started when Timmy came to live with my family and I for a while way back when we were children. He was kind and good to me when I came home from Vietnam and through all the ups and downs of our lives. Tim was Tim and never a fake. We always new where each stood or when we fell down. Especially on our elk hunting trips to Randy and Paula’s at Checkerboard or at Harley and Judy’s and hunting whitetails on Johnny Duncan’s. These are places we tripped and fell down because of Mr. Crown. I went there on my vacations for 30 years or more. Oh yes those were the days as they were at Tim and Cyn’s “Ponderosa” and Cyn you can vouch for the times full of laughter and tears there. You and Timmy were a bright spot in the lives of my sons and I in my life when we were fending for ourselves. We are not the same people now, there is this huge empty void, this space that cannot be filled by anyone, now that my friend, your husband, is gone forevermore! I’m sorry Cyn. I should have stayed closer to you guys after you moved. Especially after the year my of heart attacks, stoppages and injuries in 2020. I say this publicly because I feel saddened that time moved on and now “should have” sounds real hollow! I love all of Timmy’s family!
    Curtis

Thank you all for your prayers, memories and condolences. You are all right the Wildman was a special man. I remember making him show me his drivers license because I didn’t believe his last name perfectly described him. Bigger than life…that was him! I miss him so much it hurts. I am trying to hold on to all the wonderful moments and memories as we all are.
The kids and I appreciate you.
Love, Cyn aka Cindy aka Cynthia
