In Memory Of

Tom Giles, age 65, of Miles City.

February 11, 1953 – October 21, 2018

Thomas “Tom” Edmund Giles, 65, passed away in his sleep at Friendship Villa in Miles City, Montana on October 21, 2018.

Tom was born in Glendive, Montana on February 11, 1953 to Jack and Edna (Shefelbine) Giles.

Tom grew up in Glendive, the second of four children. He enjoyed playing baseball, fishing and family vacations. He was very athletic and was an excellent swimmer and gymnist. Tom was creative and enjoyed sculpting and painting, as well. He graduated from Dawson County High School in 1971. Tom lived a very full life. He had married for love, 3 times. From those marriages he had a son, a daughter, and bonus children that he loved very much.

After his diagnosis with Multiple Sclerosis, he went Dawson Community College and received an Associate of Applied Science in Microcomputer Support Technology in 1993. His love of computers was shared with anyone who would listen. Tom was a dreamer and a problem solver. If something didn’t work right for him or others, he would invent something that did. Tom was a people person and loved to make people laugh. That never changed. He was a good friend and listener.

Tom loved being a Grandpa and looked forward to seeing his grandkids and spoiling them. Tom also loved animals. His sweet dog, Roxi was his partner when he wheeled around town. He loved her with all his heart.

Considering all he went through with the Multiple Sclerosis, eventually being confined to a wheelchair and recent diagnosis with pancreatic adrenal cancer, he made the best of what he was given and still kept smiling.

Tom wanted a Celebration of Life. This will be held in Glendive, Montana in the Spring to allow family and friends to make plans to attend. If you would like to attend or wish to send your condolences, please email atg.atg.atg@gmail.com or via P.O. Box 18072, Missoula MT, 59808.

Tom was my bio father, although I knew him as Uncle Tom growing up. He was always good to me and I enjoyed my time with him. I teach magic tricks he taught me to my kids. I do regret we did not connect as adults. I appreciate the kind words from the health care workers who knew him. I know he had a rough lot in life, just hope he is in a better place.
