In Memory Of

Tyrell Curtis Phipps, age 21, of Jordan.

August 25, 1994 – November 16, 2015

Tyrell Curtis Phipps, age 21, of Jordan passed away Monday, November 16, 2015 near Bozeman, Montana as a result of an auto accident on his way to work at the National Finals Rodeo.

Tyrell was born in Billings, Montana on August 25, 1994, the son of Tony Curtis and Mindy Lucille (Olson) Phipps. He grew up and attended schools in Jordan where he graduated from high school in 2013. Following his schooling, he worked on the family ranch and also worked for the Brown, Bill Dutton, Dave Dutton, Tim Weyer, Mark Johnson, Blue Ridge Ranches, and helped anyone that asked.

In July of 2015, Tyrell became engaged to Raina Johnson, the love of his life; his mother asked him how long he had been in love with Raina, and he replied, “Um, I’ll be 21 on Tuesday, so 21 years.”

Tyrell loved his family! His mom and sisters were the main recipients of his tender heart. Tyrell was always willing to help his sisters with their school projects, and never got mad if they borrowed his stuff without asking. He was his dad’s shadow from the time he could walk. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved spending time with his dad and cousins snowmobiling, ice fishing, and hunting or trapping. He was always willing to lend a helping hand and give a hug at the same time. He paid special attention to children; they loved him and considered him their best buddy. He was known by all for his big hugs, kind nature, and gentle smile; he was everybody’s friend. He loved to tell stories and we are sure he is in Heaven telling stories as we speak.

Tyrell loved ranching and rodeo and was actively involved in it from an early age. He was currently working for Wrangler National Finals Rodeo. He was headed down early to set up for the Rodeo and then work during the Rodeo. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Jordan.

Tyrell is survived by his parents Tony and Mindy Phipps of Jordan, MT; three sisters: Tia Phipps of Sayre, PA; Tarissa Phipps of Jordan, MT; and Tierney Phipps of Jordan, MT; his fiancé Raina Johnson of Sand Springs, MT; his grandparents: Curtis & Flossie Phipps of Brusett, MT; and Wanda Lou Olson of Billings, MT; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Edwin Clyde Olson.

Visitation will be held on Friday, November 20, 2015 from 1:00-6:00 p.m. at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Jordan. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 21, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at the Garfield County District High School Gymnasium in Jordan. Interment will follow in the Pioneer Cemetery at Jordan. Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home of Jordan is in charge of the arrangements. Condolences may be sent to the family by visiting: www.stevensonandsons.com.

My sincere condolences to the family of Tyrell Phipps. May you find comfort in your loving memories, and in knowing that Tyrell is in the safest place possible – Jehovah God’s memory. (Malachi 3:16) The Biblical accounts of the resurrection are so sure that soon you too will have an opportunity to hear God’s Son, Jesus, say, as he did to Lazarus: ‘Tyrell, come on out!’ to a resurrection of everlasting life in an earthly paradise. All I can say is you’re not alone, there are many who love and admire you, many who want to help you carry your burden, many who are praying for your comfort. The Lord will carry you through this. He will hold your hand and gently guide you through each step as you work towards a new normal. Dearest Tony, Mindy, Girls and ALL Tyrell’s Family & Friends, Words cannot express the deep sorrow we feel for your family. Just know our thoughts and prayers are with all of you and please let us know if we can do anything to help. A Beautiful quote I heard and I think fits Tyrell is this – “Remember me with Smiles and Laughter for that is the way I will Remember all of you. But if you can only Remember me with Tears, then don’t Remember me at all.” Tyrell was always full of Smiles and was such an AMAZING young man who definately left his mark on everyone he met. He was hard working and so well mannered. Again, I know nothing any of us can do will help ease the awful pain you’re all feeling right now but Tyrell is in a beautiful place waiting for all of us to join him someday. Love and best wishes to all of you.

Especially to Curtis and Flossie, my long time and treasured friends, my mom worked for Curtis’s mom! My niece, Maddie, posted wonderful pictures of her friendship with Tyrell on her FB page. The Phipps and Shawvers have been around a long time, families have intermingled, worked together, neighbored together for decades. It sounds like Tyrell was another in a long line of Phipps who was loved, admired and respected by family, neighborhood and peers. What a loss, to lose such a wonderful son and grandson. My love and prayers go out for you all, that God will sustain you and give you comfort in your memories of this fine young man.

My heart is broken for your family. I wish I could have known Tyrell, he sounds like he was an angel here on earth. I’m sorry I couldn’t be there for the service but know that my thoughts and prayers are with you all and may God keep you in His loving arms until you meet again. A saying that has gotten me through some tough times is “just breathe” and I know there are and will be moments when you feel like you can’t but just breathe. Please let me know if there is anything I can do for you. Hugs
