Howdy! That was always the first word to come out of Tyson’s mouth when he greeted people. Tyson Gene Haycock entered this world on the 21st of August, 2000 at the Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center in Idaho Falls, Idaho. His parents Dustin Gene Haycock and Jessica Christina Adams would later give him a sister and a brother. Natalie and Caiden, whom he loved dearly.
Tyson’s greatest joys were hunting with his family, volunteering at the Vet, playing and listening to music, caring for our dogs Jerzey, Copper, and Rocco and his cat Chirp. Those animals were his greatest pride and joy.He loved his mission more than anything else as he was serving the Lord and gaining his own testimony of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Even though he only served a few weeks in New Mexico, he fell in love with his mission and especially his companions Elder Britton Jeremie Berrett and Elder Michael Austin Davis. Tyson is continuing his service to the Lord on the other side of the veil alongside his companion Elder Davis.
Our brother Tyson was very outgoing, caring, and very very stubborn. Not a day went by when he didn’t do some act of service whether it be helping our neighbors, helping mom with work, cooking and baking for our family, or helping his little sister with her car troubles and all of her gardening needs. In fact, he insisted and was eager to do these things. Starting from a young age, he had a love for music. You would not find him without at least one earbud in his ear. We would often play “Guess the Song” as a family together as music is such an important aspect in our family. We would also have competitions seeing who could get the bigger deer. Tyson had his years where he was close to getting the biggest deer, but Caiden would always show him up. He would always take care of skinning it though. Tyson would still say he’s the better hunter. He would not leave the house without a sharp knife and would often be found sharpening one of his many knives. He loved nature and everything that came with it. He’d often chase Natalie with snakes, frogs, toads, and even a quail that he found in our yard. He loved making people laugh and smile and could tell when someone needed a pick-me-up. He loved being with his best friend “Pipsqueak” McKinsey Jerrel which included getting their cherished pedicures.
If you didn’t find him helping out mom or working around the house, then you would find him working on his many projects, his last of which being a bow. But at the end of the day, family and friends were most important to him.
Tyson was greeted on the other side of the veil on the 22nd of July 2021 by his grandmother Darlene Adams, great-grandparents Wayne and Alice Anne Christensen, great-grandparents Jim and Mabel Adams, grandfather Donald Haycock, grandmother Carla Vasquez, great grandparents Deral and Margie Haycock, great-grandmother June Haycock, great-grandparents James and Ruby Jennings, uncle Timothy Haycock, and aunt Jody Longie. We know that families can be together forever and hold fast to that knowledge.
Tyson is terribly missed by his parents Dustin and Jessica Haycock, sisters Natalie and Calista, brother Caiden, grandparents Jon and Suzie Adams, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Thank you to all of those who showed their love to Tyson in the Idaho, Oregon, Montana, and New Mexico areas.

Dearest Haycock Family –
The joy felt when Tyson chose to take time away from his life to serve a mission was immense for me. I watched him grow so much in such a short time after he was told he would serve with the people of Farmington, NM. His humble words of hope and excitement to serve the Navajo Nation were so profound and I remember texting Jess saying how good this would be for Tyson. The grief and sadness I feel alongside you will never equal your own pain. I mourn with you and love you all so much. May you feel peace and comfort in the days ahead and always.

Heidi Jacobsen says
Words cannot express the sadness I have felt since I heard the news of Tyson’s passing. I loved him like he was my own. I’ll never forget the time we served together, doing some painting for a ward member. We had a whole day together and I learned about all of his loves and ambitions. We talked about so many things and had a great rapport with each other. Often we met out walking our dogs on the hospital track. We would visit for a bit and go on our way. I enjoyed the times when he was in my class at church, or the times when we would visit in the hallway. We’d talked about his motorcycle he was going to fix up, or about dogs or about his thoughts regarding school or a mission. He always had a smile, quick wit, cheerful wave and I loved him in that kilt of his. He did things his own way, and I loved him for that too. When he first left home, I felt that there was a hole there. When he left on his mission, he left a hole again. Now, he leaves a gaping hole, at church, at home and in our hearts. I know he is well and safe in our Father’s loving arms but it just seems too hard, too short, not enough. I know the Savior will eventually make this all right, but for now, this hurts an awfully lot. I hope peace finds its way into all of our hearts but mostly for Jessica, Dustin, Natalie and Caiden. I love you Haycock Family.
Daylene Myers says
Elder Haycock was an amazing young man with an incredible personality and a sweet spirit. He was often in deep reflection about stuff. He loved animals of all kinds. And they knew they were safe with him. He had great testimony of the Gospel and was just learning how to articulate his thoughts and feelings about something that meant so much to him. He will forever be an imprint on my heart. I loved him like he was my own. I will truly miss him. Until we meet again CuZ.
Sister Amy Baeza says
I am so sorry for your loss. Tyson was in some of my Animal Science classes at BYU-Idaho. He was so pleasant in class and always had a smile. I only saw him online but I could feel that he was great person with a great sense of humor. He will be missed.

Elder Haycock was an amazing guy that we loved dearly here in Ramah. I remember his first night here in Ramah my oldest son wanted to show him our beautiful rooster. So as you can imagine Elder Haycock in our living room holding a rooster in his lap…. For 30 min! Well he eventually got pooped on and didn’t have a care in the world. We loved having your son in our home and we are so grateful you shared him with us. He will be dearly missed and our prayers are with you and your family.

I am so sorry for your loss. No words can really convey that. I read the news but didn’t know this sweet missionary was from MT. We are from western MT and family all over. I lost my brother and mom in the last 2 years. My brother unexpectedly due to an AVM in his brain. I remember a family friend who lost her son at 14 hugging me and saying that eventually I would remember him with smiles instead of tears. I do. I can’t comprehend your loss but your family will be in my prayers. I am grateful for his service and that through the gospel of Jesus Christ he is continuing to serve on the other side of the veil. What a glorious day when we are all together. Prayers to your family and loved ones.

I am so thankful for Elder Haycock and his willingness to teach the restored gospel and bear witness of the Savior. Even though it was such a short time in New Mexico, Elder Haycock made an impact and left Ramah a better place for having been here. The last thing I heard him say was he wanted to go to Alaska after his mission. I asked him why you’re from Montana. He said he’s always had an interest in going there.

❤️❤️❤️
You taught me well and loved me
In times of sun and storm.
You kept me safe and held my hand
My character to form
I learned to follow Jesus
To serve my fellow man
I learned I am His child
I felt where love began
Today, I’m with my Savior
I am transferred to His care
I hear His voice from this side
And still His love I’ll share
Please know I love you always
I will not be far away
The veil is truly thin here
I will see your every day
I know your heart is breaking
And I know that love will heal
Because the Savior knelt to pray
Our every pain to feel
You will not see me close at hand
But know that I near
Whenever rainbows reach to earth
Or bird calls come out clear
The breezes bring a little hug
The sun will warm your face
To keep you safely in our care
Back to Heaven’s Grace

Dear Haycock family: My husband Bob and I are so sorry for the loss of your wonderful son. We were in COLSTRIP ward, then Plentywood and will be back in COLSTRIP next month after 5 years in KY. I too lost a son in a car accident who was just shy of his 16th birthday. This will be hard to bear for a time because it isn’t what you wanted, and you didn’t want your life altered in this way. There will be a sting that will eventually fade. Oh the humility of grief! We add our prayers to those of all these good people who love you and peace be with you.

Tyson, all I can think about is your big smile and the love that was felt when you walked in the room. I remember when we got back from one of our trips and you had bought our dogs special toys out of your own pocket while watching them, I don’t think I ever thanked you for how well you care for them. I love animals, I didn’t think anyone loved dogs as much as me, but you proved me wrong. You will surely be missed by me and so many others, especially all the many animals you so kindly cared for as your own. I love you, i know you are up there spreading kindness as you always had done. To only see you in that kilt you loved so dearly, with that smirky smile of yours, cracking jokes. I miss you already. Thank you for impacting my life for the better. Whenever I am around animals i promise to strive to treat them with the compassion you once showed unto them.

Elder Haycock and Family.
There’s a saying that you will come to understand, you can leave your mission, but you’ll never leave the Res.
I served 20 years ago on the Res. The people of the Res will miss your son as they have accepted him as one of their own.. As you will. But as you know and understand the principles of the gospel. You will find that will bring you the comfort when you need it.
May the Lord send you His comfort.

Dear Haycock family
I was shocked and saddened to hear the awful news of Tyson’s passing. What a shock! I am so sorry for you all. I can’t even imagine losing a child, especially a young man such as Tyson. I so enjoyed having him in class (as I have enjoyed Natalie and Caiden). His charm and personality will be sorely missed.
I hope that in time, your sorrow over his tragic loss will be replaced by your memories of him. My heart goes out to you-form one mother to another.
“May the road rise up to meet you. May the wind be always at your back. May the sun shine warm upon your face; the rains fall soft upon your fields and until we meet again, may God hold you in the palm of His hand.” https://www.stjosephsprepschool.co.uk ›

The Elders stopped by our shop the day he arrived in Ramah to introduce Elder Haycock to us. He was so excited to start his mission. He had two great Elders to get him started. He told us he was nervous. We assured him he had the best to help him !
They spent a lot of time at our shop.
He talked about his family and hunting.
The day before they were at with us I told them I loved them like by son’s. They came by for a minute Thursday to drop off a tote for Elder Housley we were delivering to Idaho.
We will miss them so much. And they will be in our hearts forever.
Our sincere condolences to you all.

Haycock family I want you to know that Elder Haycock was such a fine young man. He will be so missed in Ramah. Our community is so devastated over the tragic loss of this precious elder. The last time I talked to him was at church after choir practice where he was so gracious along with Elder Davis and Elder Berrett to join our choir to help us out for the pioneer day Sacrament we were holding a week later. After practice before church started I was visiting with him and we were talking about our Scottish ancestry. He told me he really would like to be able to wear his Kilt on his mission, but he couldn’t here. I told him that it would be nice if he could have but maybe the elders that went to Scotland were able to. He told me he was very proud of his Scottish ancestry and we laughed and joked a little more about it. I truly believe our Heavenly Father needed him on the other side along with Elder Davis. I believe they are continuing their mission over there. Our deepest prayers go out to the Haycock family and know we share in your heartbreak at this time. You are such a fine family I can tell by your son’s great example and his smile and caring attitude to all he met.Thank you for sharing him with the Ramah community for a time. Trust in the healing love of our Savior at this difficult time in your lives. Thank you for the beautiful picture tribute and I loved that you had him in his Kilt on a few of them because talking to him he loved wearing it. Again, it was an honor to have known your son for a time, and again take comfort that he is with our Savior and you will be with him again.

Dustin and Jessica the depth of your pain we can not begin to know. The loss of child would be a pain unable to be treated. Tyson must have been a special young man having both of you as Parents.
