In Memory Of

Valentina Risser, Age 73, of Colstrip

February 14, 1945 – March 22, 2018

Valentina A Risser, age 73 of Colstrip, MT, passed away at Rosebud Health Care Center nursing home on March 21, 2018.

Valentina was born on February 14, 1945 in Cantilian, Surigao Del Sur, Philippines to Mia Luarez Azacon and Marciano Azarcon.  She was 1 of the 9 children.  Valentina met Darrell in June of 1968 and were married on February 16, 1970.

Valentina and Darrell moved to Colstrip, MT in 1979 where they made their life long home.  Valentina enjoyed working at Colstrip Medical Center and Holy Rosary in Miles City before retirement.  Her proudest moment was when she became a U.S. citizen in 1985.  She had studied very hard and passed with excellence and even surprising her test givers with a few facts that they did not know. She also enjoyed and loved fishing, bowling, bingo, hunting, golfing, all the fruit picking with her family and especially the family gatherings here and in North Dakota.  She loved to cook for anyone and made sure you ate well.  Valentina loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  She enjoyed being with them and watching them.  When her granddaughters were younger and visited her, she would put on “Macarena” and they would dance, sing, and laughter filled the house.  They even did Karaoke and she surprised the girls with how beautiful her singing was.   She really treasured those moments.  She was also an avid WWE watcher, something her father-in-law introduced to her when she came to live in Valley City, ND.

Valentina is survived by her husband of 48 years, Darrell, son Rey, son Thomas(Ethel) and Daughter Mia(Roger).  Granddaughters, Jenni(Larry), Heaven(Bryce), Courtnee(Boyd), Crystine(Kolt), Ray Angelo, Ray Martin, Mia Katrina, Rey Jr., Carriza, Azalea, Eduard, Haven, Darren and Lucky.  Great-grandchildren, Ashleigh, Brock, and 5 more great children. Many nieces and nephews.

Valentina is preceded in death by her parents, Mia and Marciano Azacon.  Son, Glenn Allan, Brothers, Predeswindo, Eutemio, Ranulfo, Samuel.  Sisters, Sylvia A Conte, Josefa A Servillon, Cora Caufield.  Daughter-in-law Grace Luad Azacon.

Funeral Services will be held on April 2, 2018 at St. Margret Mary Catholic Church in Colstrip, MT at 2:00p.m. Luncheon to follow services.  Burial to be announced at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been set up at Northwestern Energy Employees FCU under Valentina Risser Memorial.

We would like to thank the staff at RHCC for the care they gave to Valentina and a special thank you to Stevenson and Sons for helping us get through this tough time and all their work and patience with us.  A special thank you to Mark and Sherry Noel for all you’ve done for us.
