Velda (Ravenscroft) Welbes, age 89, of Miles City passed away on Friday, February 16, 2007 at the Holy Rosary Extended Care in Miles City.
Velda was born in Wessington, South Dakota on December 10, 1917, the daughter of Arvy and Clara (Brown) Ravenscroft. She grew up inVayland, where Arvy ran the General Store. She graduated from Wessington High School with the class of 1936. On December 22, 1947, she married Richard (Dick) A.Welbes in Miles City. She stayed home with her children while they were young then worked at Andersons Clothing, McDonalds Clothing and Miles & Ulmer Hardware.
Velda enjoyed baking her famous cakes, doing crafts, jewelry making, and taking care of her home.
Velda is survived by three children: DianeWelbes of Miles City, MT; VickyHeckel of Billings, MT; and Richard (Dick)Welbes of Red Lodge, MT; six grandchildren: Lynda and Todd Hilling, Amanda H., Levi and SehnaHeckel, Brad, Shane and MelissaWelbes all of Billings, three great grandchildren: Alex Mathew, Isabelle Maria, and Sora Lee; and two sisters: Jean Gard of Miller, SD and Elaine Fritzsche of Wessington, SD.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Dick in 1979, and two sisters: Eunice Siegling and Dorothy Stobbs.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 21, 2007 at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Miles City. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 22, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Miles City. Interment will follow in the family lot of the Custer County Cemetery.
