Velva Smith

Velva Ruth Smith, of Terry, MT, went to be with her Heavenly Father on February 25, 2012 at the Holy Rosary Health Center in Miles City.

Velva was born on September 15, 1925 in Halfway, OR the daughter of Charles and Ada (Barclay) Carsly. Velva grew up and attended schools in Bremerton and Seattle, WA. Velva traveled extensively throughout the U.S. and overseas with her husband Bill Hoyt Smith. They eventually settled in San Diego, CA before her and her mother moved to Broadus and then Terry, MT, to be close to her sister Vivian Dodd. Velva has made her home in Terry since.

Velva was an active member in the Badlands Bible Church in Terry and participated in and looked forward to weekly Bible studies. She loved reading her Bible, doing needle work, crocheting and crossword puzzles.

She is survived by her three sons, Charles (Carolyn) Smith, of Collierville, TN, and Larry (Yvonne) Smith and David Smith, both of San Diego, CA. She was preceded in death by her husband, a son Raymond and her sister Vivian and brother Laverne of Halfway, OR.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 28, 2012 from 1 - 6 p.m. at Stevenson and Sons Funeral Home in Terry, MT. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 29, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at the chapel of Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Terry.
