Vera L. Martin, of Miles City passed away July 20, 2007 at Holy Rosary Hospital.

Vera was born on October 18, 1918 in Delta, Colorado, the daughter of Edwin and Cora Willey. She graduated from High School in Melstone, Montana. Vera married Russell (Rusty) D. Martin on February 13, 1937 in Roundup, Montana. She and Rusty lived in many towns along the Milwaukee Railroad until he retired in 1976. After retirement, Vera and Rusty moved back to Miles City. They lived in Miles City from 1953 to 1959 where they owned and operated the Fair Price Grocery with Ed and Irene Martin. Vera and Rusty lived in Ryegate from 1960 to 1985 and she worked as County Clerk and Recorder from 1968 to 1978.

Vera was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years Russell D. Martin.

She is survived by one son, Russell V. Martin and his wife Peggy of Miles City; two daughters: Nancy N. Griesgraber and her husband Joe of St. Paul, MN; and Wanda V. Hodgson and her husband Willie also of Miles City. Vera is also survived by one sister, Vivian Bess of Rocklin, CA; eleven grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Monday, July 23, 2007 at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Miles City. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 24, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Miles City. Interment will follow in the Custer County Cemetery in Miles City.
