Vern Edward Hoyer, born August 2, 1953, in Webster City, IA, passed away on April 11, 2025 in Miles City, MT at age 72 after a battle with lung cancer
.
Vern’s memory will live on in his loved ones’ hearts. Survived by his sister Vera, children Benjamin Hoyer, Alison Hoyer, and Jessica Blakeslee, and grandchildren Roma, Caden, Kade, Shelby, Rosalee, Rory, and Todd. Preceded in death by parents Melvin & Ruby Hoyer, as well as sisters Elaine & Melva.
Vern was raised in Iowa and worked as a John Deere mechanic for most of his life. He also lived in Colorado for 20 years, where he raised his family and farmed before moving to Miles City in 2002. Vern continued repairing John Deere equipment until his retirement in 2022. Vern was a man of perseverance and commitment to quality workmanship. He loved fixing things and will be remembered for his hard work, strong will and generosity.
The family sends heartfelt thanks to the caregivers at Holy Rosary Hospice Care for their unwavering & phenomenal support during Vern’s illness.
A celebration of life will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church on April 15 at 11:00am, followed by a burial at Custer County Cemetery and a lunch reception at the church. Donations to Trinity Lutheran Church are requested in lieu of flowers.
