Vernon D. Baker of Wolf Point passed away on Sunday, July 4, 2004 at the age of 84 of respiratory failure.
He was born November 23, 1919 in Nickwall, MT to Daniel and Madge Martin Baker. He attended the Nickwall and Wolf Point Schools. He married Marian Anderson in Wolf Point on December 4, 1938. Vern served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a mechanic and a rural mail carrier. He was a lifetime member of the VFW, a 39-year member of the Elks Lodge, and a member of the Rural Route Mail Association. Vern received the Patriotic Citizens Award. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, boating and camping. He lived most of his life in Wolf Point.
Vern is survived by his wife Marian; daughter Barbara (Harvey) Hill of Corvallis, MT; sons Mearle (Jeanie) Baker of Livingston, MT; Richard (Sally) of Clermont, FL, and James (Gaye) of Columbia, MO; 7 grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; sister Carolyn Baker of Wolf Point.
His parents and two sisters preceded him in death.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 7 from noon to 7 pm at Clayton Stevenson Memorial Chapel in Wolf Point. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 8 at 2 pm at the First Lutheran Church in Wolf Point. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery.
