Vernon James Entzel, age 73, of Miles City, Montana passed away on December 27, 2021 at his home in Miles City. Family to Receive Friends will be held Sunday, January 2, 2022 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Miles City. Funeral services will be held Monday, January 3, 2022 at 10 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Miles City with the Reverend Howard Schreibeis officiating. Following the service, there will be a luncheon at Trinity. Interment will be held in the Dawson Memorial Cemetery in Glendive at 2:30 p.m. with a gathering at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Glendive to follow. Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home of Miles City has been entrusted with the arrangements.

Vern was born on May 28, 1948 in Glendive, Montana, a son of Alvin and Irene (Kaul) Entzel. Following his graduation from Dawson County High School in 1966, he attended trade school at the North Dakota School of Science in Wahpeton, ND. Vern married Eileen Vogele on September 21, 1968 and to this union three children were born.

Vern served the community of Miles City as an auto technician at Lohman Motors, Mac’s Frontierland, and VJ Engines. He also sold farm equipment for a time at West Plains. After retiring from mechanicing, he went to work for Pine Hills School in the maintenance department. Following this retirement, he joined Custer County Transit as a driver. Additionally, he served Trinity Lutheran Church in a variety of capacities, including church elder. He was a member of the High Plains Classics car club and enjoyed his ‘53 Chevy, camping, motorcycling, silaging with his cousins, and hanging out with friends and family. Vern never met a stranger and was always up for sharing a joke, or two or three.

Vern was preceded in death by his parents, Alvin and Irene (Kaul) Entzel, his infant daughter Aimee, and all of his aunts and uncles.

He is survived by his wife Eileen; children, Stacy (David) Hall of Billings and Cale (Heidi) Entzel of Pocatello, Idaho; grandchildren, Alison (Paul) Schnoes of Pueblo, Colorado, Albert Hall of Ft. Collins, Colorado, Christopher and Craig Entzel of Pocatello, Idaho, and step grandson, Jonah Clark of Pocatello, Idaho; his brother Allen (Barb) Entzel of Jamestown, North Dakota; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews and their families.

Memorials are suggested in Vern’s name to the Cross on the Hill through Trinity Lutheran Church, or a charity of one’s choice.

I remember when my brother, Clyde, passed away and Vern and Eileen surprised us and came to the funeral in Bismarck on their motorcycle. That really blessed us.
