In Memory Of

Vince Brady, age 22, of Billings formerly of Lame Deer

June 22, 2003 – January 25, 2026

Vince Marlyn Brady
Ma’hahko’e (Badger)
Vince Marlyn Brady, Ma’hahko’e (Badger)—a name given to him by his papa—came into this world on June 22, 2003, born to Josephine Brady and Tom McCormick, Sr. Vince began his journey to be with our relatives on the other side on January 25, 2026. He will be laid to rest by his papa, Steven Brady, Sr., on January 28, 2026, at the family cemetery.
Vince was fortunate and privileged to be raised in the Cheyenne way of life. He knew his land, his people, and heard his language. He was a direct descendant of Braided Hair, Chief Little Wolf, and Chief Morning Star, and was a proud member of the Crazy Dog Society.
Vince was extremely close to his papa and grandma. His siblings often teased him about being papa’s favorite. He deeply loved the sacred sites of our people, including the Medicine Wheel, Bear Butte, and the Sand Creek Massacre Site.
His aunts and uncles played an integral role in his upbringing—whether hunting and fishing with Dana, Steve Jr., and Jon, or working and traveling to support him in his activities. Vince traveled to several NFL games, where he received field passes and met players from the Steelers.
Vince’s first best friends were his brothers and sisters: Chris, Roy, Clayton, Al, Pat, Bernadine, Bryan, DJ, Jeran, and Sis. Over the years, he gained many more brothers and was rich in family. He also formed many close friendships, including Treston, Owen, Cedric, Ladrein, Carter, Connor, Josiah, and Kean. Though he had many best friends, his mother ultimately remained his closest confidant and best friend.
Vince had begun building his relationship with his father and siblings on the McCormick side. He was able to meet his siblings and spend meaningful time with his dad.

Robert and Billy Hurt loved Vince as one of their own. The Hurt boys will always remember him as a beloved brother.
Vince began school at Sandstone, where he met his brother Joey Hurt. He attended Castlerock Middle School, transferred to St. Labre, and later graduated from Skyview High School. He participated in football, basketball, baseball, cross country, and most recently volleyball and softball.

Vince was adventurous and loved the outdoors—especially climbing anything he could. He was an avid fisherman and hunter and his mom’s workout partner. He loved everything vintage and enjoyed thrifting, especially with his kee’ee.
Vinny had the best hair—maybe even better than Polamalu’s—and he was always incredibly proud to be Cheyenne. He participated in a video for Indian BPS Ed for Boys with Braids, bringing awareness to Native American boys who wear their hair long.
Vince met the love of his life, Gracie King, in high school, and they reconnected in 2024. Together, they welcomed their beautiful baby girl, Honey Thomasina Drew King, on March 17, 2025. Vince loved his baby girl deeply, and she was always excited to see her dad.
Basketball took Vince many places. The family extends gratitude to his basketball family: Vipers, Alfred Smith and Northern Thunder, Northern Cheyenne Battle of Nations Team, Lakota All-Star Game and Dale Pine, the 2025 CDKC Division II AIHEC Championship Basketball Team, and CDKC staff—especially Aunty Nay, Levi STG, and Eva. He also played with Shytown, St. Labre Braves, and was coached for two years by his Uncle Roy while at St. Labre.
Vince’s work ethic was unmatched. Whether in the weight room, on the basketball court, roofing, or framing—Vince and his Uncle Steve did it all. He was known for his speed square skills, squat and bench lifts, and his signature self alley-oop off the wall. Bernie taught him how to do the off-the-wall dunk. Vince worked with his uncle at Red Shale Construction and also with Blue Bird Lifeways and their Food Sovereignty Program.
Vince is survived by his mother, Josie (Tom Dorsey); the love of his life, Gracie King; his baby girl, Honey King; his grandmothers Bernice Mast, Rollette Mast, Dr. Cokie Yellow Robe, Carla LaRose, Linda Brady, Lenora Wolfname, Lavonda Brady, Elizabeth Braided Hair, Theresa Small, Cassandra Moore (Stanley); his grandfathers Rick Wolfname (Janet), Merrill Killsnight Sr., Otto Braided Hair, and Martin Braided Hair; his aunts and uncles Carmen Wolfname, Stephanie Fisher and Roy Fisher Sr., Bernadine Fisher, Bryan Fisher, Robert and Billy Hurt, Dana Brady, Steve Brady Jr. (Tawnya), Jon Brady (Maribeth), Kaden Jeray Walksnice (Brianna); and his siblings Roy Fisher Jr., Clayton Little Sun, Al Little Sun, Keenen Big Back, Korilyn Wolfname,

Vince, you left too soon. You left my heart broken along with so many others, but like them, I am thankful and proud that I was able to be a part of your life. I can see you now, running ahead of the pack with the grace, courage, and positive energy that you carried throughout your life. Shooting half court shot after half court shot in the gym before school with the persistence and determination that were as much a part of your character as the sensitivity and kindness in your heart. I wish I could be there to see you off on your journey. Know that I will be with you there in spirit, and may your memory bring pride, joy, and comfort to all your relations on this side until we all meet again. Rest in peace and power, brave young man. Much love and peace to Josie and all your family.
