Viola Geist, age 91, of Miles City passed away on Monday, January 08, 2007 at the Holy Rosary Health Center in Miles City.

Viola Schmidt was born to John and Rose Schmidt on September 10, 1915, in Angela, Montana. She grew up in Regent, North Dakota and attended the Regent country school. On November 24, 1932, she married Edward Geist. Viola worked at the Beatrice Creamery in Regent until moving to Miles City in 1937. She worked at Miles City Steam Laundry until they were transferred to Billings in 1959. While living in Billings she was employed by Kline Cleaners. Upon retirement, in 1979, they returned to Miles City to live.

Viola is survived by one son, Raymond (Mary) Geist of Lincoln, MT; daughter-in-law, Joanne Geist of Fargo, ND; a brother, Ervin Schmidt of Miles City, MT; a half sister, Vi Ziepfel of Hamilton, OH; three granddaughters, three great-grandchildren, and two great, great grandchildren; four sisters-in-law and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward; one son, Leroy; two brothers: Albert and Art; a sister, Lentina Higgins; and a half-sister, Trudy Hundley.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 14, 2007 at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Miles City. Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 15, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Miles City. Interment will follow in the family lot of the Custer County Cemetery.
