Violet Jean (Vick) East died at her home on Feb. 7, 2011.
She was born July 10, 1914 in Rock Springs, MT to Regina and Gerhart Vick. She was raised in the Angela/Miles City and Hathaway Communities and at age 17 married Victor A.S. East in Miles City on July 19, 1931.Vic and Vi lived in Forsyth from 1939 to 1974 when they moved to Seattle, WA to be near their family. They returned and settled in Miles City in 1990, happy to be back in Montana.
Vi is survived by her sister Arilien Brown of Seattle, WA; son Gary East and wife Mary of Palm Bay, FL; daughter Myrna McIalwain and husband Les of Anacortes, WA; granddaughters, Cindy East of Rockledge, FL and Victoria Darnell of Vancouver, WA and grandson Jeffrey East and wife Susan and sons Jacob, Aaron and Daniel of Seattle, WA.
Vi was a wonderful mother and held to high standards in living her life. Foremost in her love were her family, many friends, home, gardens, cats and eastern Montana. She was a powerful force and a bright light who will be missed.
The family is very appreciative of the help and love of special friends, Charlie and Margaret Brown and Marie Reinhoel in her last years and of the good care and kindness given by Judy Cooper and staff of Corner Lot Care.
Burial is in the Forsyth Cemetery. A Memorial and Life Celebration service will be scheduled at a later date. Remembrances may be made to the Humane Society or charity of your choice.
