Virginia Carol Struthers
On the evening of February 16, 2022, Virginia passes away unexpectedly at home, after a short battle with cancer, while being attended to by family members. Virginia was 70 years old.
She was born in Roundup, MT, in Musselshell County. She was the third child and first daughter of Helen Louise and Thomas Leon Devine.
Virginia’s family lived at various locations in Musselshell County and Park County in Montana, following her dad from logging site to logging site. The family eventually bought a home along the road to Clyde Park in 1959. The home was close to a little county school called Grannis School. At this school Virginia met her future husband, Lester William Struthers. Virgina attended Grannis School from 2nd grade all the way through 8th grade.
Virginia was a very outgoing person, with an “I Can Do Anything” attitude. She liked to help her dad and her brothers log when she could. Virginia liked to load logs on the truck and wasn’t afraid to run the loader. She also loved horses and had an Arabian mare in grade school. She even broke a colt and showed him in 4-H with the Grannis Challengers 4-H Club.
Virginia’s siblings are: Gary (Charlene) Devine, Terry (Diane) Devine, Eileen (Blaine) Schweigert, Lois (Jim) Smith, Karen (Ed) Kessler, Doris (Shannon) Guse.
Virginia married Lester William “Bill” Struthers on November 29, 1969 at Saint Mary’s Church in Livingston, Montana. They followed road construction in the early years.
They had two children; Shane Lee was born in Livingston on May 28, 1970 and Billie Louise was born on December 4, 1971 in Sheridan, Wyoming. In 1972 the family moved to Colstrip, Montana.
Bill started at the mine and became a Field Maintenance Supervisor. Virginia worked at the Sheriff’s Office as head dispatcher for 12 years, did clerical work for the Judge and was an EMT for 10 years. She also worked for General Electric, COP Construction and did ranch work for Gary and Ginger DeCock.
Virginia’s grandchildren are Cory Lee, Tori Louise and Kaden William. Her great grandchildren are Adryan Bryce and Sylvia Louise Arneson.

I am so very sorry for your loss. She was such a kind and loving lady. I will miss visiting with her especially during spring when she would always bring me bundles of asparagus. We would visit and laugh. She always had a homemade remedy to fix a ailment and I would always try it. She was a lady with such a big heart. May she RIP. God bless you all.

Virginia was an amazing grandmother… and was my best friend. She was kind and loving to everyone that she met, even those that she didnt know. Every day she lived she thought of as a blessing. I don’t believe that I have a favorite memory with her, as every memory was so wonderful, and was a blessing to my heart and soul. She did so much for those she loved, and was always willing to lend a helping hand. All of us miss you Virginia.
