The daughter of Matthew and Esther Norris, she spent much of her childhood living in hotels, as her father was a hotel manager. She fondly reminisced about roller skating with the hotel staff and living in different parts of the country. She attended Duchesne College in Omaha, Nebraska, founded by the Madams of The Sacred Heart order of Catholic nuns. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in history with a minor in philosophy. In 1953, she and Harry Hunter Jone's were married. They began their married life in Billings where they resided before moving to Scottsbluff, Nebraska, in 1957. In Scottsbluff, Mrs. Jone's was active in many organizations while raising her five children. She was passionate about serving her community. Her favorite organizations included the hospital auxiliary, the Catholic Altar Society, the League of Women Voters and Big Sisters. Her greatest and most important was to her husband and five children.

In 1978, she moved with her family to Fort Collins, Colorado where she enjoyed the beauty of the mountains, cooking and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren who were the light of her life. She was a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish in Fort Collins.

Survivors include her husband, Harry H. Jone's Sr.; her children, Harry H. Jone's Jr., Janie F. Jone's, Kim McCall, Mary Sue Normandin and her husband, Michael Normandin, and Robert M. Jone's; and four grandchildren, Leslie McCall, Jeffrey Jone's, Emily Normandin and Brigette Normandin.
