In Memory Of

Virginia Russell, 82, of Heritage Acres

August 1, 1930 – April 2, 2013

Virginia Elizabeth Kingfisher-Russell, Neohne’e “Walking Toward Woman” was born on August 1, 1930 at Kirby, MT.  Her father was James Kingfisher and her mother was Minnie Two Birds-Kingfisher.  Her siblings are Ellen, Louise, Angel and Charles Kingfisher, and she was the youngest.  Virginia attended the Tongue River School and later, the Busby School.  In 1950, she married Clifford Russell, Sr.  They had 5 children, Estelle (Ben) Armentrout, Maria (Hank) Russell-Big Fire, Clifford (Rose) Russell Jr., Ivan Russell and Alfretta Russell.  Virginia also had an older son Melvin (Sandra) Miller.  Virginia’s grandchildren are: Haroldine Fisher and Cliff Jon Russell, Regene, Michelle & Terry (Sonny) Spotted Wolf Jr. and Terry (JR) Spotted Wolf, Rosslyn Cameron, Clifford III, Collins, Ivoree (Precious) and Angel Russell, Ivanda K. and Jared Clayton Russell, Mandy, Tiffany Russell and Tuesday Sarah and Fred Walker IV, Kristi & Kelly Miller.

Virginia enjoyed going for long walks, being out with nature and listening to the birds.  She would also crochet, knit and do embroidery work in her spare time.  She even sold some of her embroidery pieces to people who admired her meticulous work.  She loved to have her hair braided and felt safe, secure, and warm when she was wrapped in blankets.  Virginia also liked to listen to Indian music (healing music) and listen to the Christian Networks on the TV.

Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Clifford Russell Sr., son Ivan Russell, daughter Alfretta Russell, siblings Ellen, Louise, Angela and Charles Kingfisher, grandchildren: Terry L Spotted Wolf Jr., Mandy Russell and Fred Walker IV.

Virginia’s families were the Kingfishers, Knowshisguns, Roundstones, Killsnights, Little head and others too numerous to mention, if we forgot to mention you we apologize.  Virginia’s special friends are Pearl Teeth Wolf Black and Effie White Wolf Bearchum.

We would like to Thank all of the Nurses, CNA’s and Staff at the Heritage Acres Nursing Home in Hardin.  They treated our mom with love and care, just like she was family.

I used to enjoy seeing Virginia in Miles City and had some good stories and laughs with her.
I loved her sense of humor, encountering her on her walks, and doing crafts. She had a little “mischief” about her. I miss seeing her.

I was very sad to here the passing of my birth mother, Virginia. I met her before I turned 30. We think she was a very special person, very sweet and loved to talk of her early years. Through her we met many family members and friends of hers. We exchanged many pictures and letters over the years. We will always have a special place in our hearts for Virginia. If you believe like Virginia, we will see her again! I would have been there for the services if I had been notified as soon as she passed from this earthly world. Our prayers and thoughts are with each family member. Melvin James Kingfisher Miller and Sandra Miller
