Funeral services for Vivian OHara, age 85, will be held 11:00 A.M. Saturday, November 16, 2003 at the First Presbyterian Church in Evanston, Wyoming with Pastor Arleigh Champ-Gibson officiating. Interment will follow at the Evanston Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Friday, November 14, 2003 at the Crandall Funeral Home in Evanston.
Vivian died Wednesday, November 12, 2003 at the Pioneer Manor Nursing Home in Gillette, Wyoming of natural causes.
Vivian Heward was born July 20, 1918 the daughter of Amy Sims and Harold Heward on the family ranch in Almy, Wyoming. She was reared and educated in the Evanston area, graduating from Evanston High School in 1936. On September 21, 1939, Vivian married George OHara in Evanston, Wyoming. George worked for Union Pacific Railroad so the family moved to numerous places in Wyoming and Utah. Vivian raised her children along the tracks of the Union Pacific. In 1958, they made their home in Salina, Kansas, where she resided until 1998.
Vivian was very active in the Elks Club, Order of the Eastern Star, and Daughters of the Nile. She was the first Honored Queen of Jobs daughter in Evanston. She was also involved in several bowling leagues. She enjoyed needlework and embroideries and she was an excellent seamstress. She had a passion for golfing, playing since the early sixties.
Vivian is survived by two sons: George (Christy) OHara of Lakewood, Colorado, Ed (Trish) OHara of Gillette, Wyoming; two daughters: Betsy (Paul ) Cacioppo of San Francisco, California, Amy (Lavelle) Sexson of Little Rock, Arkansas; three sisters: Thelma Davis of Evanston, Wyoming, Louella Diston of Salt Lake City, Utah, Patricia Alexander of Evanston, Wyoming; fourteen grandchildren, and fifteen great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, three sisters, and her husband, George, in 1986
