On January 30th, 2017, Wally Lowell Hedge passed away at Holy Rosary Hospice Care in Miles City, Montana with his family by his side. For the past two years he had fought a very courageous battle with Pancreatic Cancer.
Wally was born in New England, North Dakota on July 3, 1930 to his parents Lowell and Christine Hedge. He attended school in Dickenson, North Dakota. He later moved to Miles City, Montana with his Mother and three siblings.
Wally worked various jobs before enlisting in the United States Navy, serving on the USS Bon Hom Richard Aircraft Carrier during the Korean War. While stationed in Tacoma, Washington he married Evelyn Watson in 1951. To this union, seven children were born. In later years they divorced. He then married Virginia (Kay) Grissom in Miles City, acquiring four step-children. In later years, they too divorced.
Wally had many talents and worked as a bartender for Gardner Grenz at the 600 Club Lounge for many years. He also worked for Gene Cutting in the sheet metal industry until retirement. Wally and Kay later opened the Bible Book Store which they owned and operated until moving to Coeur D’Alene, Idaho. In his spare time Wally was a gifted and avid golfer, playing in several tournaments. He enjoyed hand crafting custom golf club sets for his family and friends.
Wally is survived by his daughter Patty Brookman of Billings, Sons, Kenny Hedge of Colorado, Alan Hedge of Miles City, Kelly Hedge of North Dakota and eight Grandchildren, eight Great Grandchildren, and one Great-Great Grandchild. He is also survived by two brothers Gene Hedge of Billings, Terry Hedge of Billings and sister Bonnie (Lynn) Carranco of Billings and many Nieces and Nephews that were dear to Wally. Wally was preceded in death by his two sons, Wally Dean Hedge (Bub), Douglas Hedge and one daughter Mary Ellen, his Mother, Father and Grandparents.
