Walter Edward Jenny, age 63, of Terry, passed away on Tuesday, December 13, 2005 while doing what he lovedworking side by side with his wife of 40 years.
Walter was born on July 28, 1942 in Miles City, MT, the son of Hans and Virginia (Hoelzel) Jenny. He grew up in the Pine Hills where he attended Meadowbrook School. In 1960 he graduated from Custer County High School. He purchased a farm on the Buffalo Rapids irrigation project east of Miles City in 1959. He served in the Montana National Guard as a tank mechanic from 1963 to 1969. Walter married Linda Anderson on November 27, 1965. Together they raised three daughters; Laura, Teresa, and Barbara.
Walter was a humble farmer who never admitted to good crops yet twice was honored as a Top Ten Sugar Beet Grower for Holly Sugar. He served on the Kircher School Board, Buffalo Rapids Board of Control, First Lutheran Church Council, Range Riders Board and the Montana Water Resources Association.
Being the only child of parents who were themselves only children, Walter had a true sense of family. He savored every moment he had with his family and loved to tell and retell stories of the past. He was an avid genealogist, tracing family back many generations on his computer that he enjoyed working on so much.
Walter is survived by his wife, Linda Jenny of Terry, MT; three daughters: Laura (Ted)Dukart of Wibaux, MT, Teresa (Mohamed)Elasri of Hattiesburg, MS, Barbara (Marty)Sackman of Fallon, MT, four grandchildren: EliseDukart, Evan Dukart, Hans Elasri, and Casper Sackman and by his mother-in-law; Kathleen Anderson of Billings, MT.
He was preceded in death by his parents; Hans and Virginia.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 15, 2005 with the family to receive friends from 5:30 to 7:30 pm at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Miles City.
