Wanda Kison, age 93, of Miles City passed away on Thursday, May 19, 2016 at RiverStone Hospice in Billings.
Wanda was born on May 9, 1923 at the Abbey Hospital in Miles City, Montana, the daughter of Clem and Nana (Bottles) Adamson. She was raised on her dad’s homestead near Epsie, Montana in Powder River County and she was an only child. She attended a one room grade school called Two Tree. She rode a horse three miles each way to school. She attended her freshman year of school in Miles City and the remaining three in Broadus where she graduated in May of 1940. The next two years she cooked noon meals for students in the newer Two Tree School by the highway on a government project. In 1942, her dad sold his place and moved to a small farm five miles east of Miles City. She worked as a clerk in Sawyers, Penney’s, Firestone and Montgomery Wards. She married John Kison in July 1953. They had a foster home in their home for 18 years and she also babysat in her home for 27 years. Her husband died in July 1989. She had a stroke in November 2007 and lived with her son Dale and his wife Joann in Colstrip for three and a half years. She moved back to Miles City in 2011 where she lived until her failing health forced her to move to Billings.
Wanda was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church.
Wanda is survived by her children: Gerry (Gail) Kison of Helena, MT; Dale (Joann) Kison of Colstrip, M T; and Karma (Jack) Johnson of Rock Springs, WY; five grandchildren: Kim (Mike) Becker of Ault, CO; Kollette (Gary) Rightsell of Wellington, CO and her twin brother Koley Kison of Fort Collins, CO; Tony (Shilo) Kison of Billings, Kay (Montie) Bilbro of Colstrip, MT; Nick Kison of Helena, MT; her great grandchildren: Ryan Kison, Kaitlin Becker, Chalon Bilbro, Deja Bilbro, Ella Bilbro, Steven, James, Beth & Megan; and one great great grandson Liam. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
Visitation will be Tuesday, May 24, 2016 from noon to 2:00 p.m. at the Trinity Lutheran Church prior to the funeral service. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 24, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Miles City. Interment will follow in the Custer County Cemetery.
