Wayne Haggerty, age 84, lifetime resident of Miles City died peacefully at his home on Saturday, December 29, 2007.
Wayne was born on November 11, 1923 in Miles City, MT, the son of Ben and Wilhelmina (Siegle) Haggerty. He attended school in Miles City and graduated from Custer County High School. Following his schooling, he worked for the Milwaukee Railroad. Wayne married Rena Lien in May of 1945. He said it was love at first sight. They were married only a few weeks after they met and were happily married until her death in 1979. He was a third generation engineer, working for the Milwaukee Railroad for over 40 years beginning as a fireman and later as an engineer. He retired in 1979 when the Milwaukee left Miles City.
Survived by his daughters: Cheryl Tonn and children, Will, Mike and Anne (Michael) Quast; Wanda (Paul) Denio and children,LeWayne Bastian and Radene Anderson; a son, Dana (Tracy) Haggerty and children, Todd, Taylor, Alecia (Michael)Vinge; great grandchildren: Azlan, Ivy, Dana, Tawni, Ben, Brennan; great great grandchildren: Jimmy and Ariel; special friends: Noni wise and sons, Dusty, Matthew, Maxwell; a brother, Jim (Pauline)Haggerty; and a sister, Pat (Al) Towlerton.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Rena; parents Ben and Billie Haggerty; and a brother Jack Haggerty.
Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, January 2, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. in the family lot in the Custer County Cemetery.
