Wayne Hill, age 62, of Miles City.

November 28, 1953 – January 29, 2016

Wayne Lee Hill, 62, of Miles City, MT, passed away surrounded by family January 29, 2016. Above all, Wayne was a father, grandfather and husband. Family was his biggest joy in life, especially his four grandchildren – Payton, Sasha, Trenton and Maycee.

Wayne was born November 28, 1953 in Miles City, MT, the son of Vern and Louise Hill. He grew up in Miles City, graduated from Custer County District High School in 1972 and attended Miles Community College. He married the former Peggy Pettigrew on July 7, 1974. He worked as a paint salesman until the early ’90s, then acquired the Airport Inn in the early 2000s. Wayne took a great deal of pride in the day-to-day operation and success of the Airport Inn.

Wayne loved all sports, especially his Green Bay Packers. He liked to fish, but most importantly, loved and cherished his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife Peggy Hill of Miles City; children Magen (Bob) Stieg of Watford City, N.D., and Ben (Kylie) Hill of Miles City and grandchildren; sisters Karren Langer of Beaverton, Ore., and Patricia (Curt) Langer of Tigard, Ore.; and brother Rick (Alice) Hill of Miles City.

He was preceded in death by his father Vern Hill, mother Louise Hill, and younger brother Brett Hill.

A celebration of Wayne’s life is planned for Thursday February 4 at 2 p.m. at The Airport Inn. You are asked to honor Wayne’s memory by wearing attire from your favorite sports team (Packers colors encouraged).

Should friends desire, memorials may be made to the Miles City Special Olympics, Attn: Terri Stephens, 170 Sage Dr, Miles City, MT 59301.

    The Bible describes God as a God of all comfort, at 2 Corinthians chapter 1 and verses 3-4. One scripture that has brought so many people comfort is Revlation chapter 21 and verses 3-5 because that describes a promise from God that is specifically touching to anyone who has experienced the pain of losing someone.   56. Peggy, I met Wayne in the second grade in 1961. We were schoolmates for the next 12 years, including a year together at MCC. He was exceptional. Then, choosing you as his mate was one of those storybook pairings that many of us wish we had found. How great it is that you and Wayne had that long, wonderful run together. We mourn your loss but celebrate the life well lived by the two of you.

Wayne and I are second cousins. as a child, it was always a big day to come to town, and the times we would stop in to see Vern and Louise made the trip over 30 miles of washboard gravel road so much more worth it. As a child, Wayne was one of the few kids I know who was my age, and it was so much fun to visit My heart goes out to all of you.
