Wayne Lawrence Morgan was born in Miles City, MT, on March 31, 1951, to parents Robert I. and Bernice (Jellison) Morgan. He passed away at the Holy Rosary Healthcare after a short battle with cancer on July 25, 2021.
Raised in the Boyes, MT community, he attended grade school at Boyes and Hammond, MT. He graduated from Powder River County High School in Broadus, MT, in 1969. In 1970, he enlisted in the army, serving with the Army Air Cav in Vietnam as a tail gunner on a helicopter. Later on, he joined the National Guard for several years in Miles City, MT.
He married Janice Cundiff in Fort Hood, TX, in 1973. After his discharge from the army, they made their home in Broadus, MT, and Moorcroft, WY. They had two children, Tawny and Naomi, before divorcing in 1977. In 1979, he married Melody Hankins and moved his family to Kalispell, MT, before settling in Miles City. They divorced in 1999.
Wayne worked as a ranch hand on the Janssen Ranch in Coalwood, MT, a wheel alignment technician in Gillette, WY, a correctional officer at the Pine Hills School in Miles City, MT, and truck driver in Kalispel and for Beacon Carter/Cenex and B&C Oil in Miles City.
He enjoyed playing the guitar and singing when he was younger. Fishing, camping with his family, listening to music, and watching old western and sports on T.V. were also things he like doing. More recently, he spent his days at the VFW and took great pride in tending the flowers each summer.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his daughter Naomi. Surviving him is his daughter Tawny of Billings, MT, Uncle Elvin Jellison of Miles City, MT, Uncle Harold Morgan, sister Roberta (Gary) Rickman of Miles City, and brothers Robert Morgan and John (Tina) Morgan of Broadus. He is also survived by his grandchildren Tyrel Olson of Billings, Aspen Olson of Sidney, Orrin Olson of Livingston, MT, Tristin Morgan of Miles City, great-granddaughter Bailey Jo Olson, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
