February 3, 1932 – March 3, 2015

After a short bout with Cancer, Wayne Lathrop, age 83, peacefully passed away to join his Lord, surrounded by all his family on March 3, 2015 at the Holy Rosary Hospital in Miles City.

Wayne was born on February 3, 1932 the son of Clifford and Donna (Loop) Lathrop. Wayne attended school in Miles City until he graduated from Custer County High School in 1949. Shortly following high school graduation Wayne enlisted in the United States Navy, where he served his country for four years until his honorable discharge in 1954. After his years of service Wayne moved back home to Miles City where he began working for Provost Motors as a service manager. Wayne worked for a couple of dealerships in Miles City including Miles City Ford and Mac’s Frontierland. On November 19, 1955 he married the love of his life Delores Ford in Miles City at the Presbyterian Church. To this union they had three beautiful daughters Pam, Tracey and Toni. Together they raised their children in Miles City and Wayne started a business called Waynes Sound which was the only outdoor sound company within 50 miles. Most recently he worked on the Miles City Economic Development Council with Mike Coryell.

Wayne was a true people’s person he loved talking to friends and being involved in many local organizations. He was a member of the Jay Cee’s, Eagles, Elks, Young Life, COPS and the Lion’s Club where he served as president from 2007 – 2009. Wayne was a lifelong member of the Presbyterian Church, something he was very proud of. Most of all Wayne enjoyed spending time amongst family and friends.

Wayne is survived by his wife of 59 years Delores; three daughters, daughter Pam (David) Millican of Dallas, TX and children Casey, Connor and Leighton, daughter Tracey (Todd) Thun of Anaconda, MT and children Shannon & Jordan, and daughter Toni (Pat) of Ephrata, WA and children, Dustin, Lindsey and Danielle; one sister, Rena Krieg of Miles City, five grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clifford and Donna; step –father, George Raastad; two sisters, Joann Morgan and Beverly Causley and one brother, Warren Lathrop.

I will always have the fondest memories of Wayne…. of Wayne’s sound…. He was a truly jovial man, who never ceased to make me smile, even in the middle of whatever FFA Sound crisis we were having. His love for his wife was visable every time he looked at her. Rest in Peace where the sound system has no wires, no speakers, and is always clear and sweet.
