Wilbona “Bonnie” Janiece Orthman Hadden died Friday morning, August 28, 2015 of natural causes at the Rosebud Health Care Center Extended Care. She was 79 years old.
Bonnie was born on January 11, 1936 in Hysham, Montana to Jessie Mae and Boyd Burrell Orthman. She grew up in Hysham and graduated from Hysham High School in 1954. She married Howard Harold Hadden on November 26, 1955 in Billings and bought their first home that same day. They moved to Hysham shortly after they were married and started their family.
Bonnie was a hard worker and wore many hats during her life. She was one of the best waitresses around. Everyone loved her quiet sense of humor and lighthearted laugh. Bonnie worked side by side with Howard on their farm hauling livestock, driving beet and corn truck, and irrigating. Bonnie always kept busy with many crafts including crocheting, latch-hooking, and needlepoint. She bowled many years in a league, and belonged to the pinochle club in Hysham. She loved fishing and picking asparagus with her mom and Maynard.
Bonnie loved to share the story of her and Howard’s 50th wedding anniversary, when Howard surprised her with 50 red roses. This Thanksgiving would have marked their 60th wedding anniversary.
Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents, her stepfather Maynard Bills, and her granddaughter Jenny Hadden. She is survived by her husband, Howard; daughter, Pam and her husband Eric Chigbrow, and their daughters, Lianna Gaskins and Emily Edmonston all of Great Falls; son, Russ Hadden and Kathy Crawford of Hysham, and his daughters Melissa and Amanda of Nebraska; and daughter, Diane and her husband Mike Robino of Forsyth, and her daughter Kayla Stevens of Hysham; and great-grandsons Jackson Gaskins and Jesse Stevens; and brother Clayton Orthman of Hysham.
If desired, memorials may be made to your favorite charity. Services will be 11:00 am Tuesday, September 1 at Saint Joseph’s Catholic Church in Hysham. Burial will be in the Hysham Cemetery immediately following services. A reception will follow at the Hysham Senior Center.
The family wishes to send a special thank you to the staff at the RHCC Extended Care for their compassion and kindness shown to Bonnie and her family during her stay.

Harold, Diane, Clayton and all of Bonnie’s family,
I truly want to thank you for sharing Bonnie with me. She easily worked her way into my heart and we shared a love between friends even though we knew each other for such a short time. I will miss the twinkle in her eyes when we bantered with Clayton in the restaurant. She helped out a lot on the material that popped up to kid him about.
What a hole she leaves, not only at the end of the table in the restaurant, but in the lives of so many, especially me. I will treasure the last time I sat and held her hand while she took her breathing treatment.
I am so happy that she is not struggling any more, but I cry for se,fish reasons. I wish we all had a few more Sunday’s with her.
My prayers are for the Lord to help ease the pain of loss for all of you!

Bonnie was my best friend. Our age difference didn’t matter. We giggled & told secrets like two ten year olds.
I will remember & love you always, Bonnie. ❤️
