Lorn Davis, 76, of Miles City, passed away surrounded by his family, Thursday March 2, 2017 after complications from a stroke at St. Vincent Hospital in Billings, MT.
Lorn was born on August 8, 1940, in Jordan MT, the son of Wilbur Morris “Heavy” and Mary Lou (Curtis) Davis. He was the eldest son of six boys. Lorn was raised on the family ranch at Haxby, MT. After completing the 8th grade at Cat Creek School, he started working on ranches in the surrounding community.
At a young age, he developed a love for music. He learned to play guitar, base and steel guitar. He played and sang lead in various bands around the area for many years.
In 1962, he married Diana Schlepp. They were married for 27 years and had four children. They worked on various ranches in Montana and Wyoming. They leased a bar in Richey, MT, and then started driving truck. Lorn worked for Lantis Trucking, Miles City Pack and Murphy Trucking. On August 24, 1983 he was involved in a serious truck wreck. After recovering he became an owner/operator, doing the majority of his own repairs.
He truly loved the open roads and teaching others how to drive truck. In 1993, he met Dawn Ludwig and became a part of their family. After teaching Dawn how to drive truck, they continued Lorn Davis Trucking until the time of his death.
He was always a fiercely independent man with a gentle spirit who was loved by many.
He is survived by Dawn, brothers Les (Yvonne), Mike (Patsy) and Bruce (Linda). Diana Davis, children Melody (Steve) Reinhart, Marlene (Danny)Lounder, Margo Trosin-Veorster, Jake (Sarah) Davis, Tammy (Mike) Wajer, Wendy (R.J.) Schenk, Megan (Levi) Gordon, Erin and Ty Kampen. Grandchildren Jacee Reinhart, Sonny & Amanda Wilson, Christy & Jeffrey Trosin, Jacob, Stephanie & Noah Davis, Carly Schenk, Kimber Gordon and 9 great grandchildren. Numerous nieces and nephews and friends he considered family.

Jim and Ann Willson says
Dawn and the rest of Lorn’s family so sorry to hear this. I have always considered Lorn a good friend. He always treated me very well, and had time to stop and visit. I remember when he first started trucking in those little straight trucks. He hauled lots of cattle, and hay for my dad. He always got into the ranch even when he had to shovel snow to get there. I suppose he has talked Jesus out of a new Peterbilt truck already. Rest in peace my friend.

Please accept my condolences for the loss of your loved one. Comfort and a sure hope can come from God’s Word, the Bible –2 Corinthians 1:3, 4. Jesus promises that one day he is going to bring back to life all those who have died –John 5:28, 29. Death is not only an “enemy” to us, but also an enemy to God–1 Corinthians 15:26. He tells us that one day he is going to remove forever all pain, suffering, and death that mankind has experienced for thousands of years –Revelation 21:3-5.

Oh Dawn I am so, so sorry! I know how much love there really was with you two! He loved his family!
Lorn was to me, all the things a great friend will be to his/her trusted great friend. Lorn and Dawn helped me get back on my feet just by: always caring, introducing me to their friends and his brothers, keeping in touch, stopping by for cold drink or sandwich, a shoulder, a lecture, a tease, calling me to say Happy Or Merry, or whatcha doing? I will remember him for always, because they just don’t make em like they use to.
May you be so happy and awesome up there in Heaven. You Are Loved- Joanne

I met Lorn a few months ago when i moved to MC from Anaconda. He helped me a lot in various ways.I don’ think there was anything he could not fix. I tried to fix a computer one time but i messed it up and if I hadn’t had Lorn Davis to fix the thing for me I’d of been out a few hundred dollars. Thanks Lorn. Also he was one of the best story tellers I ever knew. I’ll see you on the other side Mr. Lorn. Sincerely John G. “Bubba” Mullen .
