In Loving Memory of William “Bill” Bleth
It is with both sorrow and celebration that we remember William “Bill” Bleth, who peacefully passed away on November 30, 2023, at the age of 82 with Gini by his side after a long challenging journey with Alzheimers/dementia. Born on August 27, 1941, in Dickinson, ND, Bill was the cherished son of John and Mary Bleth, and he joins his siblings Johnny, Edna, Jim, Richard, Marlene, Kathy, and Mary Ann in eternal rest.
Bill is survived by his loving spouse of 61 years, Virginia “Gini” Bleth, and their legacy lives on through their devoted sons William Scott, Gregory Alan, and Mark Andrew. His zest for life further extends to his 10 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren, who were a constant source of joy and pride.
Bill’s journey was marked by a commitment to knowledge, earning his High School degree at Bemidji High School, MN. Bill wanted more for his family so he continued his education at the St. Cloud Vocational and Technical College, St. Cloud, MN earning a certificate in Electronics and Instrumentation. His professional endeavors led him to a career with Montana Power, where he made lasting contributions and built enduring friendships within the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. Bill took immense pride in having all three of his sons join the military, Scott and Greg in the Navy and Mark in the Air Force.
His interests were as varied as the places he traveled. Bill found immense joy in visiting his grandchildren, sharing laughter and creating lasting memories. Hunting became a cherished tradition, creating timeless memories with his sons. Bill’s love of card-playing, and his loyalty to the Minnesota Twins and Vikings showcased his unwavering sportsmanship. The open road called to him, and RVing allowed him to explore the beauty of the world. Bill’s love extended to animals, and his nurturing spirit was evident in the animals he raised.
Bill’s life was inseparable from Gini. Their enduring love served as an inspiration to all who were fortunate to witness it, a testament to commitment, partnership, and the beauty of a shared journey.
Bill was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, where his faith found expression. Like MacGyver, he approached life’s challenges with ingenuity and resourcefulness.
A memorial service to celebrate Bill’s life will be in the spring (details to be announced) at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Internment will follow at Forsyth Cemetery, with a reception back at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.
Like many families we walked the long journey of Ahlzheimers/dementia with Bill. There’s a very poignant reason that it is referred to as “the long goodbye”. As a family we struggled with watching the aspects of this disease destroy the man we knew and loved. May Bill’s memory be a source of comfort and inspiration, and may his legacy continue to shine brightly in the hearts of all who knew him.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to the Immaculate Conception Church, ℅ ADA Restroom project, ensuring that Bill’s spirit of generosity continues to make a positive impact on the community he held dear. You also may donate to the Alzheimer’s Foundation in Bill’s name so a cure may be found in our lifetime. St. Jude was also a cause that Bill supported because of his love of the innocent children.
