William B. Denby, also known as “Wild Bill” and later in life as ”Sweet William”, age 67, died in his home Sunday, September 22, 2019. He was born in Terry, MT to Clara and Burton Denby on February 13, 1952.
Bill is survived by his daughter Rachael Denby, son; Ely (Jennifer) Denby, and granddaughter Zoey Denby. He was preceded in death by his parents; Clara and Burton, siblings; Caroline (Wicky) Phelps, Mary Ellen Hitron and John (Johnny-Johnny) Denby.
Bill was a veteran of the Vietnam War, where he served in the 82nd Engineer Batallion of the United States Army. He was a very hard working man and excelled in many fields. A few of the places he worked included: Schwartz Construction, Haliburton, Schwan’s and operated his own onsite antifreeze recycling business. Yet, his love of the land and farming always remained his favorite “field of work”.
Nobody could deny Bill was an entertainer. Whether telling jokes or stories or even doing stand-up comedy with his brother Johnny-Johnny, he was sure to bring a smile to your face. He loved horses, fishing, camping, hunting and other outdoor activities. He participated in many bowling leagues and even in his final days loved talking about the days when he coached his son’s baseball teams. Above all things Bill loved his family, all of whom will miss him dearly.
Graveside services will be held at 2 pm on Sunday, September 29th in Terry at the Prairie County Cemetery, with a Celebration of Life gathering to follow at the Legion in Terry, MT.

“May love be what you remember most.” The Bill I remember was funny, in an old fashioned tone. He taught me to play cribbage, and he had no mercy. A game that will forever remind me of him. I will play “put a candle in the window” in your honor the day of the funeral, for I won’t be able to make it. You will be truly missed. Rest in Peace Bill. Much love

My thoughts and prayers are with you Rach and Ely. Bill was a great man and will be missed dearly. I will always remember his kindness, bluntness and great advice. He treated me like family and even gave me a nickname and for that I will be great. RIP WILD BILL
