William (Bill) Dennis Klapmeier passed away on November 13, 2020 after three years of residing at Holy Rosary Residential Living. Bill was born on January 30, 1931 to Edward and Elma Klapmeier. He attended school in Miles City graduating from CCHS in 1949. He went to work at the US Post Office that summer and retired 37 years of service in 1986.
He married Eleanor Gaub from Fallon in 1952. They had three children, Bruce, Kim and Joel. Eleanor died in 1968. In 1969 he married Maureen (Iehl) Hefti from Glendive, adding her three children, David, Randy and Tari to the family.
Bill was a life-long member of Trinity Lutheran Church, serving in various positions at the church over the years. His strong faith in Jesus Christ as his Savior guided and sustained him throughout his life. He was a quiet, gentle man with a heart-warming smile. He was a hunter, carpenter/woodworker, loved to go backpacking, camping, and being a tourist. He and Maureen took many wonderful trips both in the US and in Europe in the 51 years they were together.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, wife Eleanor, sister Merle and grandson Travis. He is survived by his wife Maureen, six children; Bruce (Nancy) of Wilbur, WA, Kim (Rick) Reed of Helena, David (Liz) of San Diego, CA, Randy of Billings, Joel (Jane) of Forsyth and Tari (Mark) VanNoy of Buchholz, Germany, twelve grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
Memorials in honor of Bill can be made to the Trinity Lutheran Classical School or the charity of your choice.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 17 from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm at Stevenson and Sons Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, November 18 at 10:00 am at Trinity Lutheran Church. Interment will follow at the Custer County Cemetery.
