Langemo Family says
Our family is sad to hear the quick passing of Willie after finally returning back to Brockway.
During all those years of living in Vegas, he always talked about retiring back home and enjoying the good life. He faithfully return to Montana almost every year for Brockway Dairy Day where Jim, Rod and John would meet him on the side hill where he held court with a Mountain Dew. Willie had a sharp wit, did things his way and on his own time schedule. We wish he could have enjoyed his golden years like he planned.

Willy was one of my first friends I made in las vegas when I moved here in 2000. He was a great neighbor and greater person. He never judged anyone here for what they did or didn’t have or passed judgment on anyone because they where different. Willy was very opened minded toward others he always made people feel welcome even if he just met them. I can say I’ll miss him very much and also say I’m glad he didn’t suffer long. We can all learn alot from his life and his death. I grew up on a farm also maybe that’s why we got along so well.. He was always very proud of where he was from and growing up in farmland. Ill miss his laffing and always asking me if I wanted Pepsi haha (I drink one for you Saturday buddy) He would be working on a car and say to me look at what the fat farm kid came up with here. He always have some positive input. It’s human to be selfish and not one our friends and loved ones not to leave us… But i always feel like your never really gone if people remember you… I don’t think willy will be gone for a long while he surely touched alot of peoples lives….. He certainly be missed…. Guess you can finally get that rest you’ve been lookn for.

Willy was ‘king of the one-liner’ and a most clever person. We had many adventures during our Brockway grade school informative years. As I recall, every Wednesday the train came to Brockway. After school on one of those Wednesdays, Willy and I decided to hide behind a sagebrush somewhere on the ‘Y’ after we had scattered small pebbles on the railroad track. Our goal was to see what would happen when the locomotive ran over them (duh!). After the first pebble exploded with an unexpected extremely loud BANG as the locomotive crunched it, Willy quipped, ‘now would be a real good time to EXIT.’ We didn’t get that opportunity. The locomotive screeched to a halt and the engineer appeared on the catwalk and motioned us to approach the engine. To say we were scared would be a gross understatement. We complied expecting the absolute worst. However, after the engineer explained why what we had done was really irresponsible/bad/stupid, he invited us into the cab and we got to run the ‘Y’ with him! Yes, he let us run the throttle. Keep in mind this was nearly 60 years ago. By the way, I think Willy invented the idea of using a clothes pin to attach a playing card to to the frame of your bicycle such that the spokes fanned the card making an atrocious radial engine like noise. A deck of cards did not last long. Tom Larson.

I can remember more than once closing the Midway bar with Willie, those were good times, even better now in the remembering. Willie had a sharp wit he never lacked for a quick reply, no matter what the occasion, but I never remember him being mean spirited about it. We would always buy one of those frozen pizzas and split it around closing time and they were always so hot when you got them you would burn your mouth, except Willie, he could just suck those things right down!! I will always remember him in a good way and all the fun we always had but I know he is out of pain and in a better place now.

We are sorry to hear of Willie’s passing. We remember his cheer when the Las Vegas city council offered an incentive to turn lawns into desert landscape for $2/sq ft! Willie knew a good deal!

Oh the memories……so sad to hear of the passing of Willy, everybody’s friend and pal. Several years ago I was in Las Vegas for a training seminar. I called Willy, and we met in the hotel lounge for a few drinks and more than a few memories of our years in Brockway. If you knew him, you have your own memories and stories of how he touched your life–his legacy lives on on all of those memories. Rest In Peace, my friend.?

Another Brockwayite gone to soon. Last time I saw Willy was when him and Wayne came into the Vets Club in 1991. I had just got off work and sat down with them for over 3 hours, drinking beer and talking about the good old days in Brockway. You will be missed ole friend.

So very sorry for your loss! Your in my prayers. He was like my uncle. He taught me a lot at young age. Resilience, persistence and many more… his constant teasing was harsh. But it was all in love I realize now. He will be greatly missed.

To the Brost & Knierim Families,
I did not know William well but we lived in the same neighborhood. He was always outside tinkering on some vehicle or another and always had a smile and a wave for anyone who went by. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your families.
