William Brand Lawrence Jackman known as “Shorty” to all his loved ones gained his angel wings on May 28th, 2023. Shorty is a beloved son, dad, brother, grandson, nephew, husband, good friend and coworker. Shorty was born on September 3rd, 1993, to Phyllis Curley and Brand Jackman, but his grandparents raised him as their own, William “Bill” Jackman and Dorothy Jackman. Shorty’s Cheyenne name is Ma’eoome which means “Red Water” given to him by his grandfather Matthew Two Moons Sr. Shorty attended his elementary years with Colstrip School, Jr. High school at St. Labre, and some of his high school years back at Colstrip. He then got his GED in 2011 and graduated from Wyoming Technical College with his Auto Mechanic degree in 2014. Shorty was always a hard worker, getting his first job at the age of fifteen. He worked on the Housing peanut crew where his Uncle Lafe Haugen showed him how to roof, among other small jobs that he took pride in and made him happy. Shorty worked at the S & H Auto Shop where he helped with mechanic work and tire shop duties. In 2015, he began a career with Northern Cheyenne Department of Transportation; he had various jobs within the program which included road construction, road maintenance, mechanics, and operation of several different heavy equipment vehicles. And his favorite being the single axle and Shorty was always known to have experience driving each equipment vehicle, completing projects, and helping in all the areas of the program. His wife Lacey said he always came home with dirty work clothes and boots and had to take them off at the door. Shorty also competed in the Equipment rodeos that are held yearly, taking first place at the conference in 2022 in which all his skills were put to the test competing against other tribal programs. Shorty was an all-around hard worker and joker and will be greatly missed at the transportation program, as well as in the community he was part of- appreciated by for his volunteer work for many people. Shorty had other special skills and hobbies as well: he loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing, getting wood, coyote hunting, shooting off rounds, cruising out in the hills with his music and the bass turned up, and playing his Xbox in the evenings. Shorty was always smiling and joking with everyone, unafraid to socialize. He was looked up to by many – the young and the old. Shorty always showed respect to others and his caring character always shined through. Shorty shared joy and love with everyone but met the love of his life when he was seventeen years old, Lacey Lonebear. They shared their life together for 13 years and have been married for 6 years. They lived in Lame Deer, Montana where they shared their home together with their son Joshua James, who Shorty loved with all his heart. He valued being the best dad he could possibly be. They couldn’t be separated, enjoying every special moment together as father and son. Shorty always showed his baby Shorty everything and taught him along the way. They recently had Joshua’s grass dancing debut with Shorty dancing alongside their son. Shorty always made sure his son got to school, was there to pick him up, and was also there for all his school activities. Shorty and Lacey always welcomed their family and friends into their home, taking care of their home inside and outside, decorating their home with family pictures and holiday cheer. Shorty always went over the top with decorating and made his yard enjoyable for the kids passing by. Shorty and Lacey have a strong love for one another, and he always made sure his love was well taken care of by buying her flowers, gifts, taking trips, and making memories together. He always made sure his family was taken care of and loved and his family, especially his nieces and nephews whom he created strong bonds with by, always being the “cool uncle”. Shorty’s presence, smile, and character will be greatly missed, including his concern for the well-being of his grandmother/mom Dorothy, nurturing the strong bond they maintained since childhood. He was known as the “Grave Digger” as he could bring old broke down cars back to life and get them running again. He had love for his trucks, especially his Chevy’s always saying, “Chevy Bow Ties til I die.” He was a true Chevy man for life, driving his big red chevy truck around with his big rims, riding in parades and showing it off. He was ten feet tall and full of steel and will be forever loved and missed.
Shorty is survived by the love of his life Lacey Jackman, son Joshua James Jackman; mom, Phyllis (Lynwood) Curley, grandma mom, Dorothy Bigheadman Jackman; and siblings: Joseph (Shawn) Huss, Paul (Laura) Huss, Vincent Mason, Loren Jackman, Brianda (Tyler) Jackman, Chianne (Juan) Gonzales, Jessica Little Eagle, Crystal (William) Kellum, Jane Price, Phoebe Jackman; Grandparents: Billford Curley Sr., Geogia Burns, adopted daughters Jaeleigh and, Ayasha, Special niece: Wildyrie Virginia Cahoone and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, and family members.
He is preceded in death by William “Bill”Jackman (papa dad), Nikalis Huss (brother), Harrison Huss (brother), Brand Jackman (dad), Bunny Jackman (aunt), Melissa Curley (Aunt), and Joshua Burns (uncle), and Wilmer Sprang Sr. (uncle).
His extended Family originated from the Harris, Gress, Burns, Curley, Spang, Bigheadman, Fighting Bear, Sadncrane, Redfox, Thexes, Bahrs, and Standing Elk families. Shorty impacted many and was loved by all; we apologize if we missed mentioning any family during this time of grief.

This guy was definitely a good working guy. It’s seems to me because that all I seen of him. I enjoyed seeing a young man like him self. Driving cool vehicles and big rigs. True his work ethic, during our recent storm of rain n hail. I seen him out on Cheyenne avenue clearing the street drain. Again a positive image of a fine young working man. To the family, prayers for strength & God’s comfort.
