Funeral Service: 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 4, 2005, at the Faith Community Church in Gillette, WY. Interment will follow at the Mount Pisgah Cemetery in Gillette.
Bill Ellis, age 84, died December 31, 2004, at the Pioneer Manor Nursing Home in Gillette, Wyoming of natural causes.
William Carl Ellis was born September 3, 1920, the son of Jesse Horace and Helen Elizabeth (Masters) Ellis in Moorcroft, Wyoming. Bill attended schools in the Moorcroft area. At the age of 12, he started working to help out at home after the death of his father. Bill married Leona Conley in 1938. Three children were born of this union and the couple later divorced. On December 14, 1946, he married Mary Elaine Harney in Newcastle, Wyoming. Bill worked driving trucks, he worked in the oilfields, and for Plain Pipe Line for approximately 23 years. The couple bought a home in Newcastle, Wyoming in 1962; and in 1970, Bill bought the tire store in Newcastle. In 1983, they closed the tire store and moved to Gillette, Wyoming in 1984 and have lived here ever since. Bill was admitted to the Campbell County Memorial Hospital on August 18, 2002 and in December of 2002, Bill and Elaine became residents of the Pioneer Manor Nursing Home in \Gillette.
Bill enjoyed the outdoors; he loved hunting, fishing, traveling and having fun with his children and grandchildren. He came to know the Lord; Bill and Elaine were baptized on June 15, 2003.
Bill is survived by his wife, Mary Elaine Ellis of Gillette, Wyoming; his daughters: Joan McCoy of Gillette, Wyoming; Wanda (Duane) Butcher of Gillette, Wyoming; his sons: Billy (Carol Ann) Ellis of Moorcroft, Wyoming; Donny (Sue) Ellis of Rozet, Wyoming; Larry (Darla) Ellis of Rozet, Wyoming; his brother, Rex (Teddy) Ellis of Moorcroft, Wyoming; fifteen grandchildren; twenty-eight great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
