Winifred Rogstad

Visitation: Wednesday, July 7, 2004 in the chapel of Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Miles City

Funeral Services: Thursday, July 8, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. at the First Lutheran Church in Miles City

Interment: Custer County Cemetery.

Marion Winifred "Wini" Rogstad, age 82, of Miles City passed away on Sunday, July 04, 2004 at the Holy Rosary Health Care in Miles City.

Winifred was born on the family farm in Kandiyohi, Minnesota on January 6, 1922, the daughter of William and Glee (McClurg) Block Sr. She attended schools in Kandiyohi and graduated from high school in Willmar, Minnesota. Following high school, she attended St. Cloud State Teachers College where she received her teaching certificate. She taught country school in Minnesota, and then moved to Forest Grove, Oregon during World War II where she met Mel Rogstad. Following their marriage in Kandiyohi, they moved to Billings where Mel began his career in optometry. Mel purchased his first optometry practice in Baker in 1952, which he ran for over fifteen years. He moved his practice to Miles City in 1968, where they made their home. While in Baker, Winifred was a substitute teacher and she continued to substitute teach when they moved to Miles City and do Baby Time Calls for Welcome Wagon.Winifred loved to play bridge and any other card games. She was an avid golfer, bowler, and most of all loved to follow local sports and her favorite teams. Winifred was a member of First Lutheran Church and Stewardship Circle, Miles City Town & Country Club, Gideons Auxiliary, Eastern Star, and P.E.O. Chapter AQ.

Winifred is survived by a son, Mark Rogstad of Miles City, MT; two daughters: Marlys Taylor and her husband Dallas of Rock Springs, MT; and Mary Lynn Gligorea and her husband Thomas of Sheridan, WY; a sister, Alice Nelson and her husband Daniel of Spicer, MN; four grandchildren: Jeffrey Oberlander, Jason Oberlander and his wife Marcia, Tasha Rae Taylor, and David A. Gligorea; and a very special friend, Marge Ek.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Mel; a grandson, Thomas G. Gligorea; and four brothers: William Jr., Robert, George, and John.

Family will receive friends on Wednesday, July 7, 2004 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the chapel of Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Miles City. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 8, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. at the First Lutheran Church in Miles City. Interment will be held at the Custer County Cemetery.
