Yvonne Edna Chambers Guldborg, 82, passed away peacefully on March 15, 2023 at McCone County Health Center in Circle, Montana.
Vonnie was born March 18, 1940 in Ronan, Montana to Fred Chambers and Caroline Finkbeiner Chambers. In 1943, the family moved to a farm at Vida, Montana. In 1946, they moved to Circle, Montana. She attended school in Circle, graduating in 1958. She was very proud of the time she spent working at Chapin Drug in her younger years and also being a cheerleader for Circle High School athletics, a passion that continued up until her passing.
On July 6, 1958, she married the love of her life, Robert Guldborg of Brockway, Montana. Bob and Vonnie farmed alongside of Bob’s brothers, forming Guldborg Bros., Inc. They had three children: Kari born in June 1960, Kurt born in May of 1966, and Kevin born in October of 1968.
She had many passions that we will remember her for including cooking (her famous cinnamon rolls), gardening, taking care of her yard and hundreds of annual flowers, teaching Sunday School, and attending all of her children’s activities such as football, basketball, baseball and 4-H. She could often be found in the gym bleachers or on the hill above the baseball field keeping her own scorebook. She became a member of the Order of the Eastern Star in 1963. She spent hours preparing meals and taking care of the men that Bob hired to work the farm.
After the children were older, Bob and Vonnie enjoyed golfing, winter snowmobile rides with area friends, and traveling across the United States. She especially loved the opportunity to change out of daily work clothes into classy outfits and attend dances with friends. Vonnie and Bob also enjoyed being in the plays in Brockway in the late 1980s and being involved in the community.
In November of 1991, Bob, the love of Vonnie’s life, suffered a stroke and life changed for the family, most notably for Vonnie. She spent 17 years making almost daily visits to the nursing home to help care for him, all the while ensuring that farming and ranching operations continued at Brockway. Vonnie continued to golf and travel with her friends as time allowed.
In her later years, her six grandchildren were the focal point of her life and she dearly loved each of them.
Vonnie was preceded in death by her husband, Bob; her parents, Fred and Caroline; her brother George (Barbara) Chambers; her sisters Pearl (Jim) Kucera and Delores (Bill) Westrum; brothers-in-law Tom Guldborg and Kenneth Guldborg. She is survived by her daughter Kari (Darryl) Wagner of Billings and daughters Jena Lee and Jordyn Lynn (fiancé Ty Shockley); son Kurt (Brenda Willette) of Billings and daughters Maya (Lars) Larson and Laney (Nate Gerondale); son Kevin (Emily) of Brockway and daughter Laura and son Conner. She is also survived by sister-in-law Linda Guldborg and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many special friends. Vonnie was fortunate to have Joe and Ellen Paine to spend time with in the later years of her life to help her with daily tasks and provide friendship.
If desired, memorials can be made out to the McCone County Health Center, Glendive Medical Center, the First Lutheran Church of Circle or the charity of one’s choice.
Visitation will be held at Stevenson Memorial Chapel in Circle on Friday, March 24 from 4:00 to 6:00. A service will be held from 5:30 to 6:00. Kari, Kurt, Kevin, and families,
Vonnie and your dad were avid sports fans to put it mildly! I can’t recall a time I didn’t see them in the bleachers cheering on the Wildcats to be honest. Vonnie was a wonderful lady who’s laugh and smile were contagious and her spitfire attitude was admired by all…she had tenacity! She will be missed by all that had the privilege to know her. May she rest in peace now beside your father, Bob.
Lana Berry Hovland says

Kari, Kurt and Kevin,
So sorry to hear about your moms passing. Vonnie was truly a great lady. I will never forget her endless support of all the Brockway and Circle kids. She always had positive words to say after each game or activity we participated in. She was an inspiration to all the people around her and will be dearly missed.

When thinking about Vonnie, I think
Of the words of Maya Angelou: “To describe my
mother would be to write about a hurricane in its perfect power. Or the climbing, falling colors of a rainbow “. Vonnie had an indomitable spirit and embraced life with great love for her family and friends. She was a treasure

Thoughts and prayers to the entire family from the Harold and Esther Sukut family. Vonnie was a great friend of Esthers and they spent many days having a cup of coffee and discussing Circle and Brockway happenings. Old friends gain value as the years pass. Bless you all and take faith in knowing she is at rest and home.

I’m so sorry for your loss Kevin, Kurt and Kari. She was such a fun lady, and so willing to be there for Mom when she became so ill with cancer. She spent a lot of time at our house in Brockway visiting. I loved her laugh and she often shared recipes with me because of my love of baking. She bought a cookbook for me as well that I still have to this day. She just was a kind person, and I remember her at Aunt Esther’s funeral requesting to visit with me. She is in all of your hearts and I know will be missed by many. May you find comfort in knowing that she is in a much better place. Love, prayers and hugs to you and your families.
Jane Shennum Spain says
Kari, Kurt and Kevin~~With sadness, we learned of Vonnie passing away. I have fond memories of Judy and I driving “over the hill” to visit. Vonnie was young, cute, petite and perky! And, what a great cook! She was a big part of my growing up years and memories, and we’re lucky she married Bob so we could be related! Cherish your memories of happy times.

I was so sad to hear about Vonnie, she was my hero! I wanted to be just like her! I have so many memories of going to their home, she always had a pot of coffee on & fresh cookies that were the BEST!
She was my advisor in Rainbow Girls which I loved because of her and she would take us to the State Rainbow Girls Conventions. I love to cook & bake because of her example. She was always happy & taking time to talk to us when Jane & I would ride our bikes to see her. So thankful I was able to know someone like Vonnie. She will be greatly missed by her family, relatives, and friends in the community. How blessed we were to grow up in Brockway and be surrounded by such good examples.
