An angel came so silently and took my sweet boy, Zayland Robert Metrius Snow home on March 30th, 2023. Zayland was born on a beautiful sunny morning in Longmont, Colorado on November 9th, 2021. Zay was 6lbs 12.3 oz and 19.25 in. long with eyes that were bigger and brighter than his moms. Shortly after birth Zayland and his brothers moved back home to Big Sky country.
Zayland could truly light up a room, with his smile, big blue eyes, and loving heart. Zay was full of life, and he loved to play peek a boo with anyone, but especially his papa. Zayland had music in his heart. He would take any object in his reach and hit and bash it together to make any noise he could. It was even more for him to drop those objects, pot, pans, toys, whatever he could on different surfaces just to hear the different sounds. Whenever he heard music, he had his own way of bebopping to the sound. Harassing his big brothers was one of his favorite things to do. Even though Zay was a few years younger he would wrestle and chase his big brothers around. Raiden would take off running and Zay would bear crawl as fast as he could and catch him. Zay began to vocalize at an early age. He was like a mockingbird mimicking the sounds he heard. His brother was brud, and “uh oh” was a constant. He was very polite and said “pease” and “tank you” all the time. Zay was mommy’s little linebacker, and it is true MILK does a body good because Zay loved his milk and as Grandpa would say,” Z man your solid.”
Zayland looked up to his big brothers Raiden and Malcolm, and big brothers knew it too. Raiden loved his little brother and was for sure his protector. If mom was telling Zayland no or getting him out of the places he wasn’t supposed to be, Raiden would say “Mom that is my baby you leave him alone” or “mom he can do that he isn’t hurting anybody”. Zayland attended Little Buds Day care and quickly became attached to several staff members whom he would instantly run to expecting to be held and he was loved by all. His mother, Nana, and Papa cannot thank them enough for the wonderful care they gave to Zayland. He was a special kid and was a joy to all the staff that worked there.
Zayland, with his big blue eyes and infectious smile touched the lives of so many. We will cherish the memories made with the Z-Man. Love you Zayland.
Zayland was preceded in death by: Auntie Annie Eagle, Great Grandma Miriam “Stone” MedicineStone, Great Grandparents Bill and Margaret Fulton, and Vern and Irene Engle.
Zayland is survived by his Mother AnnaLea Engle, Father Preston Snow, Brothers Raiden Engle and Malcolm Snow. Aunties: Andrea Engle, Gwyna and Nora Brengman, Kayle Mullins, Jennifer Costantino, Trisha Sandberg, Bayley Hornbuckle, Lexi Hornbuckle, Alexandria Gantchoff, Chelsea Kuhlman, Sarah Eagle, Mattie Medicine Stone, Melissa Medicine Stone, Marie Baker. Uncles: Matthew and Chrystyan Hornbuckle, Joe and Nate Alkire, Ryan and Tom Nordlocken, Dallas and Scott Snow Jr., Ernie, Donnie, Tony and David Medicine Stone, Shayne Alcon, Vincent Hostler, Robert Wilson. Grandparents Robert and Joan Engle, Juanita and Scott Snow and Grandmother Kristin Kennedy. Great Grandparents Nancy and David Heins. Great Great Grandma Dorothy Carroll. Zayland had many cousins and extended family: Medicine Stone, Heins, Hornbuckle, Carroll, Bull, Bell, Nagel, Grinnell, and Eagle.

I don’t know you folks but I have read about you losing your child. My husband and myself lost our child 46 years, she was 3 1/2 months old and she died from SIDDS. Losing a child is a hurt that is unimaginable and the hurt never really goes away.
