Adam Llewellyn Spang began his next journey on September 6, 2022. Vóhpeoónȧha’e (White Frog) is the son of Vincent Two Two and Kathleen Spang. He is sixth generation descendant of Chief Dull Knife.
Adam grew up listening to the stories from his grandmother Barbara One Bear Spang, especially the story of Dull Knife’s belief in schools, where Cheyenne children would learn “a new way of life.” Those stories inspired him to earn his Associate of Arts degree (Chief Dull Knife College, 2002), Bachelor of Science (Rocky Mountain College, 2007), and a Masters of Business Administration (St. Mary’s, 2009). Adam, like so many in his family, devoted his professional life to the Northern Cheyenne Tribe and service to the Northern Cheyenne people. While he held many capacities throughout his professional career, becoming the Northern Cheyenne Tribal Treasurer was one of the highest points of his endeavors.
As all his friends knew, Adam faced a number of challenges, which he approached passionately and with transparency. He went his own way, and he didn’t let the limitations of society’s norms to limit his life. He lived his life the way he wanted to, and he always marched to his own drum, but he never forgot older Cheyenne tradition. He did so unafraid and proud of who he was.
The most important thing in his life was family. No father loved his daughter more, no son loved his mother more, and no brother loved his siblings more than Adam. The love he had for his daughter is eternal. She was his pride and joy, and his greatest achievement in his life.
His infectious smile, his gentle but pointed humor, his boisterous laugh told only a part of him. The other part was his extraordinarily deep capacity for love and acceptance. Adam’s life teaches all of us that struggles, though real, need not be faced alone, but with family, friends, and on the bedrock foundation of generations before him. Adam remained loyal, generous, and non-judgmental to each and every friend. His sense of humor could easily bring the room to tears with laughter.
Adam was proceeded in death by great grandparents Wilfred and Jennie Spang and James and Margaret One Bear, grandparents Steve and Thelma Two Two and Lawrence and Barbara One bear Spang, and nephew Dallas Two Two.
Adam is survived by daughter Dayenara Eaglefeathers, mother Kathleen Beartusk, fathers Vincent Two Two and Ronnie Beartusk, siblings Tyson Two Two, Kirsty Two Two, Uriah Two Two, Sr., Janelle (Kyla) Kwandibens, and Ronelle Charette, nieces Cathryn Two Two and Briseis Two Two, Ariana Bement, Paizley Charette, Tae Kaline, nephews Gavyn Beartusk, Hayden Morrison, and Uriah Two Two Jr., and special friends Lori Fourhorn and baby James.
