Mata ̃wp’e “Buffalo Calf Women” Arshanda Faye Knowhisgun 38, of Muddy Creek, was tragically taken from us on June 12th, 2022.
Our loss was Heaven’s gain when the Lord called her home.
Arshanda was born on May 5th, 1984, in Hardin Mt, to Sherri Scalpcane Ewing and Frank Ellison Knowhisgun.
Arshanda spent her childhood in the backcountry of Muddy Creek hunting with her mother, father (Kenny Crazymule), and siblings Franshere Knowshisgun and Kamie Crazymule. She also loved to fish, ride horses, and spend time with her cousins on the Ewing Ranch.
Arshanda attended grade school and part of her Junior High school at Colstrip Public School. She then transferred to St. Labre Indian Catholic School but graduated from Lame Deer Public High School.
While attending Lame Deer Public High school, she became a lady Morning Star by playing on the basketball team, she also ran for the track team, but her love for the game spoke through her participation in cheerleading, she loved to cheer for the Morning Star Basketball team.
The bonds that were made with her peers during high school, carried into adulthood.
In-between the school year, Arshanda spent the summer at Fort Washakie, Wyo. In the course of this time, she became friends with many, friendships that continued throughout her life.
She excelled in her academics and in sports within her high school career, her achievements in education and athleticism were outstanding. She took great pride in being a Morning Star.
After Arshanda completed high school, she attended Chief Dull Knife College, where she received an Associate degree.
She was to begin furthering her educational aspirations by striving toward a Bachelor’s degree. Classes for Arshanda were to commence this week.
During high school, Arshanda met her first companion, Heath Medicine Bull. From this union, she joyfully welcomed her first-born son, Jamari Knowhisgun.
While residing on the reservation, she worked diligently in the time of her employment(s) with the Northern Cheyenne Tribe.
She proceeded to further her academics by attending U of M in Missoula, Mt. There she met Charles Brady, and from this union, she happily welcomed A’Lairyn, Shandreya, and Brevin.
She eventually made her home in Riverton, Wyo. Here is where she graciously welcomed her youngest son, Lavius.
Being a mother was her greatest and proudest moment, she adored and loved her children greatly.
Arshanda had a very nurturing way of giving more than she received. She humbly placed others before her own needs without question. Her compassion for others was impeccable.
She had a very kind smile that could light up any room, laughter that could heal, a warm welcoming demeanor with an unforgettable cheerful nature, and an enthusiastic personality.
She was everything beautiful.
Arshanda highly advocated for food sovereignty and planned to one day cultivate a garden. She was an avid creator, and an extraordinary artisan, sharing her unique gifts through her beadwork.
She will be deeply missed by many, the impact that she had on those that she loved, and those that loved her, are immeasurable.
