Surrounded by her daughters, Audrey J. Flanigan was lifted to heaven to dance with her husband, Junior, on February 2, 2019.
Audrey was born on October 28, 1931, to Wesley and Barbara McLean. Audrey was the youngest child of their four children. Audrey attended grade school on the Mizpah and later attended high school boarding in Broadus and graduated in 1949.
On May 20, 1952, Audrey married Francis “Junior” Flanigan at Audrey’s family home on the Mizpah. They began their life together in the Coalwood community. Together they worked the family ranch and true to her Scottish heritage she loved her band of sheep. While working hard on the ranch they raised three daughters, Carole, Darlene and Sandy.
Audrey loved working with Junior on the ranch, raising her garden, and attending many community events. She especially enjoyed Coalwood Ladies Aide meetings, bowling, dancing at Fiddler’s Jams and working at the Broadus Visitor’s Center during her retirement years. Playing cards at the Senior Center was always fun for her and she was an active member of Eastern Star.
Audrey especially enjoyed seeing and visiting with her family, especially her grandchildren. She and Junior were very proud of them and enjoyed supporting them by attending their many recitals, sports events and rodeos. Being an avid quilter, Audrey made each grandchild a quilt when they graduated from high school.
Audrey is survived by her daughters Carole (David) Richards, Darlene (Ed) Songer, and Sandra (Bud) Williams. Her grandchildren and their families are Carla and Shannon Marinko and their children Patrick and Daniel, Jeff Considine, Wendy and Shawn Richards and their children Brandy and Dillon Wahl, Gabby, Ronnie and Johnny Richards, Kim and Todd Thompson and their son Tristan, Ashley and Radley Day and their son Kyler, Kori Williams and her children Kolton and Peyton, Taylor and Joey Williams and their sons Landon and Carson, brother-in-law Jake Flanigan, his wife Donna and numerous nieces and nephews. Audrey also got to welcome her great-great granddaughter Braylee Wahl.
She was preceded in death by her parents Wesley and Barbara McLean, her husband Francis “Junior” Flanigan, great grandson Gavin King and her sisters Wilma, Vera and Dorothy.

So sorry for your loss. You are right, I am sure she is in heaven listening to your dad playing the fiddle, the accordion and dancing. She loved her family so much and I remember all the wonderful baking that she did, including the best pies in the country.

I have the best memories of staying with Aunt Audrey as an adult. I would get to visit with her when I would travel thru Broadus, stop at the rest area for a break, and visit Audrey. She was always so much fun to talk to. Her laugh was contagious. I enjoyed hearing her laugh. I’m going to miss her fun-loving spirit so much. We talked about a lot of things, but mostly, she liked to brag about her children and grandchildren. I’m sure she is enjoying listening to Jr play the fiddle, once again.
Lots of Love to you and your families,
Mary Helen and my family

Jerry and Joyce Strobel says
Carole, Darlene, Sandy, and families, Jerry and I are enjoying memories upon memories of both of your folks and of getting to be on the dance floor with them. What sweet times! Over the days as we thank the LORD for them and for each of you, I often remember super times with your Mom as we did ladies’ Bible study at her and your Dad’s house. After singing some hymns and choruses with the Moms I had little people that I was doing a Bible lesson and craft with as the ladies studied their Bibles and did prayer requests. Most the time we would meet in your Dad and Mom’s bedroom. One time I called your Mom and said that we had a messy craft and she had us set up in the kitchen on the linoleum floor. Another time we were ever so quiet because it was super cold and we got to sit really close to the heater. Your Mom was a treasure of treasures and we so loved the times we got to go to her home for Bible study. We are thankful for each of you and are praying for special blessings from JESUS during this time, Jerry and Joyce Strobel
