Betty Louise Milmine went to the Lord on August 31, 2017. Betty was born in Glendive, MT to Donald and Beatrice (Haines) McLeod. Her father was a mechanic in Glendive. At the age 29 he contracted pneumonia and died leaving Beatrice to raise Betty and her two sisters. They lived in Glendive for a time with the McLeod family where Betty attended early grade school. Her mom then moved to the Lawrence Haines ranch to live with her brother Lawrence. There she met and married Henry Freestad and they with the three girls lived in the Sanders area near the Sanders Hill. Betty attended Sanders school and graduated from the 8th grade there. Betty also attended Hysham High School.
Betty met and married the Love of her life Jack Milmine. They were married in 1945. World War Two was raging, their first son Waine, was born while Jack was serving overseas. Jack and Betty farmed and ranched with their family for the rest of their lives at Sanders, MT. Betty worked alongside her husband and family all her life and it was not uncommon to see her on a tractor, driving truck, or feeding cows. Mom loved going to the ranch south of Hathaway. Mom liked to embroider and earned many blue ribbons at the fair. She also enjoyed gardening and raising flowers, roses and lilies were her favorite.

Sorry to hear about Betty. I enjoyed giving her perms and trying to get her to talk about the family “secrets”. She never reviewed any, but we sure had fun . Now she is reunited with her husband & other loved ones. Just hang on the memories & she’ll always be close to your heart.
