Bonnie Elaine Mees, passed away peacefully on August 5, 2018 at Saint Vincent Hospital in Billings, Montana with family at her side.
Bonnie was born on October 30, 1942 in Eugene, Oregon to Orlo and Hazel Flock. The family moved to Powell Butte, Oregon where she grew up and graduated from Crook County High School. After graduating, she married her love Rockford Smart. From this marriage three children were born: Terri, Valarie and Carl (Tiger).
Bonnie loved the outdoors, music and working with horses. She moved to Jordan, Montana in the early 80’s where she was often seen working at brandings, gatherings and impromptu jam sessions with her guitar and singing. She loved the rough country of eastern Montana. This is where she met her cowboy soulmate, Jerry Mees. She moved to Forsyth and married Jerry and they enjoyed running the cook wagon for numerous wagon trains, driving their team and wagon in parades and traveling. Bonnie loved family and enjoyed when her grandchildren would come and visit her. She always had some kind of crafty project going on.
Bonnie is dancing in heaven with her parents Orlo and Hazel Flock, husbands Rockford Smart and Jerry Mees and a granddaughter Shauna Fowler. She is survived by daughters: Terri (Roy) Stephens of Miles City, MT; Valarie Smart of Oregon; her son Carl (Tiger) Smart of Billings, MT; grandsons: Charles Fowler and Rockford Smith. She is also survived by her brothers Alva Flock and Mick Flock and numerous cousins.
A special thank you to the 6th floor staff of Saint Vincent Hospital for their compassionate care.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Condolences may be sent to the family by visiting: www.stevensonandsons.com.
Bonnie wished any memorials be made in her memory to Miles City Special Olympics, P.O. Box 3507, Great Falls, MT 59403

Bonnie was such a sweet lady. She used to come into my office at the courthouse and we’d have the best chats about her travels and then later about her search for the best Irish Coffee. I will miss seeing her in town. My thoughts and prayers to all of her family.
