Carol “Big Chedda” left this camp, she moved to another camp in heaven, where she was greeted by her baby brother James Roy and her dad Melton Roy. Big Chedda was the name everyone knew her as, we will use Big Chedda thru this obit. Carol was the granddaughter of Chief Blackwolf.
Big Chedda was born to Melton and Jamie Whiteman on March 11, 1983 in Billings at St. V’s.
She was raised Lame Deer, MT. She grew up on the west side of Lame Deer her stompin grounds.
Big Chedda loved being around her family, she loved being THEE Auntie and never let her nieces and nephews do wrong while they were in her presence.
Big Chedda loved the outdoor’s fishing, camping, swimming and just driving around the reservation all back roads of course.
She loved being surrounded by her friend’s, there was never a dull moment when she was around.
She loved to cook, her place to be was in the kitchen, and you ate what she cooked. All her food was delish. Her specialty was potato salad and her homemade chinese noodles. The breakfast hash was the best and will be missed.
One of her favorite songs was “My Everything” by Benjah. No matter where she was or where she ended up, she always came back home. She loved being a true west sider. She will be missed by her friends and family.
The reason we put friends first is she that is how she was, always with her friends, she was never alone.
She is probably sitting at the lake in heaven talking and laughing with James and MJ right now.
She was a mother to Kassandra Littlebear and Precious Littlemouth, and the mother to all her Nieces and Nephews.
There is that one favorite nephew who could do no wrong in her eye’s James Jr.
Big Chedda was one of the first members of the Montana Youth Challenge, she was asked to return as an instructor. She stayed and instructed the West Side.
Her humor was still around after she passed, messing with the birthing table while her niece was giving birth to the newest edition to our family.
She is proceeded in death by her Paternal Grand Parents Roy and Bertha Whiteman, maternal grandparents James and Sara Blackwolf. Her dad Melton Whiteman, her baby brother James Roy Whiteman Sr. Her aunts maternal and paternal Florence, Wreatha, Phylis, Edith and Helen. Her uncles’ maternal and paternal Donlin, Alfred, Walter, Fredrick, James Jr, Frank Robe, Franklin, Jerry. Darwin and Randy.
Her adopted dad Myron Highbull, her best friend MJ Killsnight.
She is survived by her mother Jamie Whiteman, her sister’s Melanie (Jay) Whiteman, Alison Black, Priscilla LittleBear, Briana Blackwolf, Sandy Bruised Head and Anita Alvarado.
Her Uncle’s maternal and paternal Woodrow, Oran John, Hubert (Sharon), Victor and Chester.
Her Aunt’s Nancy, Mary and Wilma.
Her nieces and Nephews Trevin, Brandon, Torrey, Brian, Mikia, Jason, James Jr, Jayme, Zephaniah, Jaroy, Carlito and Lovely.
Her favorite Grandson Genesis Blackwolf.
Her brother’s Ainhus Tallbull, Allen Joe (Becky) Robert Gene (Julia) she is survived by her crew of West Side.
The IHS Family Rosaline Begaye, Tara Salley and Meg Grossman.
The family is big we would like to include everyone, but we don’t remember all the names and we don’t want to leave any one out, please understand.
Extended family include the Roundstone, Blackwolf, Teeth, Shoulderblade, Wolfname, Killsnight, Whiteman, Whiteskunk Candy, Spang and Alvarado.
Carol was fortunate to be both Northern and Southern Cheyenne.
Social Distancing is asked and masks should be worn.

I was saddened to hear about Cheddar passing. I would consider her a friend. We would acknowledge each other when ever we seen one another. She had a nickname for me. 2 cents. LoL That’s a whole other story. I had the pleasure of being the first class ever with her a Montana National Guard Youth Challenge Program. And did we make a entrance. Chedda, Recco Killsnight Naomi KN, Alex Russet, Shawn White Shirt (lucky) Emma Limpy and myself. Had Terrassa Harris and my mother Farrell take us up. The night before, we put all our money together to buy are going away party. Emma and I walked down to a bar and food a random guy that would buy for us. We told him 101, thinking we would get peppermint schnapps. He came out with Wild Turkey. That night we had Dillion PD at the motel. Terrassa and Farrell were pissed. We were drunk. The next day the program almost didn’t take us. I think we were still a little half shot. Will they were deciding on taking us. We were in the bathroom brushing our teeth. We ended up staying. But we would always laugh about that memory. Almost got kicked out before it even started.

I loved visiting Carol. She was good company. The very first time I met her was at the jail. Officer Crawford Sankey and I were doing our morning round. Carol was standing up looking out the window and MKN was on the cot sleeping. MKN sat up and looked at us. Crawford looked at her, then looked at Carol and said. “Alright Big Chedda, hand it over”. Carol said “what “. And he replied, ‘She didn’t look like that when she came in”. Carol chuckled and handed a black sharpie to him. I looked at MKN, she had a entire male organ drawn on the side of her face. We had to wait until we got back up front to laugh.
Big Chedda, God bless you my friend. I know you’re happy to be with your brother. You will be missed.
