Catherine (“Cathy”, “Catfish”, “Cath”) Kalloch, age 68, of Billings formerly of Colstrip died January 3, 2014.
Cathy was born in Sidney, MT on September 21, 1945 to Clifford Nelson and Gaile Grimes. Cathy was raised in Sidney where she attended high school. Soon after school she met her cowboy and love of her life, Norm. Cathy and Norm set up camp in Glendive where they were “blessed” with three daughters. Cathy enjoyed her friends, family and church while living in Glendive, and maintained a full social life. She enjoyed coffee with friends, playing cards, and being a part of Norm’s many hobbies. In 1980 they decided to move to Colstrip to make a life for their family. Colstrip was a great place to raise their children. Cathy worked at Western Energy Mine as a Payroll Clerk. She was always a very trusted employee that worked hard and diligent. Her children were told that Cathy was a joy to work with and loved to joke around with her fellow employees. She enjoyed activities that included bowling, water aerobics, going out dancing with Norm and being a part of Norm’s roping club. After raising their children Cathy and Norm retired from Western Energy and moved to Billings. Norm passed away in 2000 which was a devastating loss for Cathy. But she knew she would join him in heaven to continue their two-step. Right in line with Cathy’s strong disposition she was able to continue a successful and full life in Billings. She enjoyed working at Guthals, Hunnes & Reuss, P.C. She was very blessed to be a part of this firm and gained many special relationships and friends while working as an administrative assistant.
Cathy was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. As a mother she was a “mama bear” to her cubs. She would have done anything for her girls and often went above and beyond. She would literally give the clothes off of her back to her daughters and grandchildren. She had a deep maternal instinct that her daughters and grandchildren were lucky to experience. Cathy was no push over when it came to her convictions and had a “mild” stubbornness that was sometimes difficult to penetrate. Laughter, teasing and joy were plentiful in the Kalloch family. A day didn’t go by without laughs. She was her grandchildren’s biggest fan. She enjoyed watching their activities and spending time with them. Her home was the hub of activity, not too much time passed without a loved one staying with her long or short-term. She took deep pride in her home and enjoyed sharing that with her family and friends. She was honest to a fault and couldn’t tell a lie to save her life. She was the backbone of her family and was committed and dependable. Cathy was beautiful inside and out. Her presence was often quiet but she encompassed any room she occupied with a beautiful bright glow.
Cathy is survived by her daughter, Twila Carey of Billings and her sons Greg Cournoyer and Zack Carey; her daughter, Arlene Buness and her husband, Troy of Miles City and their children Christopher and Natalie; her daughter, Sue Buckalew and her husband Bryan of Tualatin, OR and their children Kristen and Nathan; her brother James Arneson of Miles City and sister Clara Jo Sikveland of Alaska. She was preceded in death by her husband, Norm; her brothers Gail and Curtis and her parents.
Funeral Services will be at 11:00 AM on Friday, January 10, 2014 at the Harvest Church Lockwood Campus at 1413 Rosebud Lane, Billings, MT 59105. A luncheon will be served at the Harvest Church following the services. Stevenson and Sons Funeral Home of Miles City have been entrusted in the arrangements.
