In Memory Of

Diane Rainey, age 62, of Miles City

June 4, 1961 – January 20, 2024

Diane Rene’ (Quinlan) Rainey passed away the morning of January 20th after a long battle with heart, liver and kidney failure likely resulting from a longer battle with rheumatoid arthritis at St. Vincent hospital in Billings, MT. Her family was by her side the entire time cheering on her recovery.

Diane was born in Glendive on June 4, 1961 to Irene Herauf and James Quinlan. She was the oldest daughter of 5 siblings. Diane’s childhood consisted of growing up in Miles City and graduating from Rosebud High in 1979.

Through the years Diane held many jobs including working at the Crystal Pistol, Pizza Hut, NZ Shoes and Super America where she would work with her future sister-in-law Mickey, who introduced Diane to her brother, “the most handsome guy she had seen” Diane’s future husband, Robert. The most rewarding job she held was that of being a mother to her 3 children. While raising Amber, Ashley and AJ, Diane helped raise many other children while operating an in-home daycare center.

After her own kids were grown, she got back into the workforce where she managed the office and assisted many clients for Curt Almy at Sunrise Financial. When Diane wasn’t working, she donated her time to the annual Miss Southeastern Montana Rodeo pageant. She enjoyed sharing her talents for creating beautiful wedding decorations and bouquets for family and friends. She also loved crafting unique gifts with a newfound passion, the Cricut.

She was welcomed into heaven with open arms by her mother and father who preceded her in death.

She is survived by her loving husband Robert Rainey and daughter Amber Rainey with future son-in-law David Stein, daughter Ashley Lee with her husband Cotton and Diane’s only son, AJ Rainey. Her brother Kevin (Teri) Quinlan, sister Carol Molstad (Jess Horn), sister Tamara (Loren) Spillum, and sister Jane Quinlan Lamb (Greg Guinard) as well as her many loved nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and friends.

A special thanks to her many family members, friends and clients who wished her well, sent cards, gifts and stopped by to brighten her spirits.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial for Diane has been set up at Stockman Bank to help the family with medical expenses and funeral services.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, February 4, 2024 at 1:00 pm at Stevenson and Sons Funeral Home.  Condolences may be sent to the family by visiting www.stevensonandsons.com.

  8. Curt and Patsy Almy says

    January 21, 2024 at 6:56 pm

I first met Diane when she worked at the health clinic. She was friendly, professional and maintained confidentiality. When the opening for a professional
assistant occurred at my husband’s business, she filled the position with grace, patience and her beautiful smile.
Throughout time she became part of the family in so many ways. She helped us through funerals, graduations, and all the happy and sad occasions that define ” life.” For almost 17 years!
It is beyond understanding to walk in that door and not find her there. Our hearts are so heavy. We pray for her precious family. To say that she was proud of each one, with great love for all, would be an understatement.
Time will never replace the yearning for one more visit, one more laugh, one more story to share. But we will try to honor her memory in ways big and small, with just a smidgen of the great determination that she had to live life to the fullest.
